Brand New to this !!!

Hello.

I am BRAND new to this. My financee is in LONDON and I am in the United States. Can anyone help me figure out what I need to do first in trying to get him over here ? Where I need to go, what papers I need to fill out ??

I was thinking about going to to London this summer to marry him, and bring him over to the USA. But now (after reading some posts on here ) Im finding that that might not be the best idea

He had come to the USA last year ( on the visa waiver program) and had mistakenly stayed over 2 days on that. So now he cant get a regular visa.

The first thing a couple needs to do when they are considering the immigration process is to get information. The immigration process is quite complex, and too difficult to simply answer the question "what do we need to do" or "what forms do we need to fill out". Everyone's case is different, and depending on what kind of visa you want to apply for, the questions are too difficult to answer.

So, we here on VJ suggest that you first read the "Guides" and "Visa FAQ" sections (tabs are at the top of the VJ page) and then ask more specific questions if you couldn't find the answers.

If you marry your fiance in the UK, then you will need either a K-3 or CR-1/IR-1 Visa in order for him to come to the US to live. If you want to marry your fiance in the US after his entry, you will need the K-1 Visa (fiance visa) before his entry into the US. These different kinds of visas have different procedures and timelines, so you will need to read about them to figure out which kind of visa will work best for your situation.

Also consider that you can't just pop over to London to get married - you will have to have the proper UK fiancee visa to accomplish that. You cannot marry on a tourist visa in the UK.
