I have been waiting almost 3 months since I passed my interview. BTW, my field office is Orlando Florida. I got an email on 8/4/2015 saying I have been placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling, but so far nothing has happened. I do recall that the interview officer told me that my case would take longer, up to three months, before I can attend oath ceremony since I requested to change my name.

Are there any people in Orlando area having the same situation? If yes, please drop a line here, so I know I am not alone. Thank you very much!

I am in Orlando as well and mine has moved pretty quick. Interview 9/22 , got e mail in line for oath a week later .Just got email 2 days ago that notice was mailed for my oath ceremony {judicial/name change } . So I will know for sure what the date is in a couple of days I guess as soon as usps delivers the notice .

I was told by the officer that Orlando does twice month for judicial oaths .She even said I might make the October schedule?? More like I will make the November since it is almost end of October now .

I would be concerned if I were you just because the letter might have been lost ?? Cause the online info does not always update as it should or according to your actual time line.

As an example my permanent resident card info online says processing to this day and here I am years later getting naturalized . I mentioned that to the officer and she said not to worry about it.

Anyway hopefully you didn't end up missing it due to lost mail.

Thank you so much for your reply. According to your case, I am pretty sure the mail got lost. I remember I did get two emails on 8/4 saying the same thing that my ceremony has been place in line. Should the second one have been "your oath ceremony has been scheduled?" I really have no clue, and really cannot figure out how their system works. I am going to talk to them next week to find out what is going on with my case. I even asked the 1-800 rep if my mail got lost or something, and of course they said they did not see the mail get mailed out yet. So I had to trust them. Again, thank you very much for your reply, and I really appreciate it! And congratulations on becoming a citizen soon!

When you enter the NBC number on your case on USCIS site what does it say ?

This is what I have as most current update when I check case status online.

Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed

We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxx. We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by November 20, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Mine is different from yours. It says, "We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxx, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

I really don't know what is going on.

My two emails came in within 2 mins just like yours. Since yours turned out to be fine, then I guess it is normal, and I should not be concerned about them.

I went to my local service area today for my infopass appointment. My number was called literally two minutes after I sat down. The person I spoke to was a very nice lady. She asked me for my Green Card to look up my file in the system, and in the meantime, she asked me how she could help me. I told her that I have been waiting for three months for my oath ceremony since I passed my interview, and blah, blah, blah. She took a look at my file, and said that you are having a name change, and that is why there is a delay. That was so totally not the answer I was expecting since I knew a name change does take some extra time. In my mind, it should not be three months long. Especially, according to other people in my service area who also requested a name change, and had her interview two months after me already got their oath letters. So I told the officer what I observed. The officer asked me back that did that person just change her last name from her marriage? If yes, then even if that is considered a name change, but it actually DOES NOT need to be approved by the judge. In another word, she only needs to attend an administrative ceremony. At that point, I had to admit that I learned something new. She also said that in Orlando area, the judge only approves 40—50 applicants a month, which was the same as my IO told me. When I asked about the next judicial ceremony, she said unfortunately, there are no open dates for november and december yet. Since the holidays are coming, it might become available in january. When I heard that, I felt like someone poured a bucket of iced water over my head. I had no other choices but to continue to wait. I walked out with a big disappointment.

Anyway, that was my experience with my infopass appointment. Any thoughts? Please advise. Thank you!
