I am trying to correct my mother's name in my BC. my mom went to quezon city hall and she was told she needs to be interviewed first before starting the process. The problem is she was scheduled on feb 2016. Does anyone experienced the same situation? I dont get the part why she needs to be interviewed first..

Honestly, i dont trust any agency of Philippine government so i want to make sure any transactions mother does is legal

Never heard that before. Maybe a visit with you along with Mom to city hall and see if you can get a supervisor to explain to you why. This does not make sense and I have a suspicion that the clerk didn't want to be bothered.

Im here in the us so i cant accompany her. It really sounds odd that she needs an interview before process can be started

You get random answers w the local (public) office in the municipal hall or etc. that's what I felt when I was asking to get my daughter fixed before we filed her petition.

Were you interviewed at the civil registry?

Kind of. I am not sure what kind of interview you are reffering for but was asked for quite a bit of question. Anyway my daughter BC problem was the parent on her BC are my parents. It might be a little different to your mom.

Oh my moms name on BC has actually a problem too. Instead of Leonora her BC name was Leonor. I think she is getting it fixed and currently in process. She just went to the municipal hall to get it corrected w no interogation occured. Lol! But it was done in the province though.

Have her return and seek a supervisor if she is told the same thing. She should bring a friend along with her and the two of them be strong and get the right answer. Just my opinion.

I agree with this in principle as being the right thing to do, however, even though things are getting better than they were 10 years ago, a few extra pesos is what usually gets the quickest results. As far as being legal, the peso is usually what decides what is legal. Now don't get me wrong, i love the philippines, and have been there many times and now have four relatives here from there, however, it is what it is. A filipino standing up to someone who thinks they have a little authority and let it drag out forever, or pay the price and be done with it.

In principle I don't agree to have to pay for more then the going price. But sometimes when in Rome do as the Romans do.
