We don't have separation anxiety of the normal sort since I go back to visit her quite often.

What we have is the family pressure. It has taken so long in this process that not only has her family given up hope that she will immigrate, they have now just made up their minds that I'm just playing with her and really have no intention of bringing her to live with me.

Forgery and con jobs are so prevalent in China that they don't even believe the copies of paperwork we have submitted. They figure its all just Photoshop.

We went thru a period like that, too, Jim, where his family was sure I had just come to take advantage of their son, then fade off into the sunset. It passed and they calmed down. I don't know what stage you're in, but the farther in we were, the better their attitude got. Hopefully, this will pass for you too!

Its getting worse. We are in a bunker trying to keep the family at bay hoping against hope that we can keep it together until the P4 packet arrives from the embassy by EMS to 'prove' the unprovable to them. I even told my wife to get her parents on a plane and we'd all go to Guangzhou and they could ask the damn consulate themselves in person if we are in the process. But of course, the consulate knows nothing of our case until the NVC sends it over. Which will be another month realistically.

So I'm packing it in here and moving over there for the duration of this process on March 15th. I step into the breach against the Chinese Horde then. And I always figured they'd kill me coming across the DMZ in Korea :-)

PS: My mother in law did tell me she would believe me if I bought them a 1 million RMB apartment and a new store in Shanghai. #######??? Buying a apartment for my wife wasn't enough? Like I don't know who will live in it when we move out.... I'm paying for her brother's college, including the bribes too! Would I spend this kind of money to have a 3 year fling with a Chinese girl? I think not.

In that context, I told her mother that no offense, but there was cheaper a$$ with more motivation available for a lot less than I'm spending now. And I don't have to fly 14 hours to see it, either. I *might* have dug my hole a few miles deeper with that one :-) Luckily after helping to scold me, my wife laughed at me.

Other than to help support your wife why are you spending it anyway? IF and when the time comes sell whatever you bought for her as apartment.

I read alot of posts about how stressed out people are, how the wait and separation is killing them, and how they can't stand to be apart. I'm not like that, not because I don't love and miss my hubby, but, I'm just not that emotional or needy (no offense intended to those who are).

Any more taking the wait in stride, or am I an oddball (as I've been told frequently)?

Guess you're the odd ball. I would miss my hubby so much! I miss him when he is at work! We are tired at the heart. Perhaps our love is more than yours, who knows. I don't see it as being needy (but if it is per the psych docs, then I am!!!!!) I see us as being so into each other yet allowing each other space.
