Husband gone on a trip back home

My husband's plane took off about 30 minutes ago for his trip back home to visit family and friends in Morocco. I wish I could have gone but work and finances really didn't allow it. I am so happy for him to get to spend some time with his loved ones. However, I feel a little sad. We do a lot together and I cannot remember what I ever did by myself before I met him. Two weeks is going to feel like forever (especially on the weekends). So...have you experienced this before with your spouse? What did you do to keep yourself occupied?

P.S. I do have a few things in mind...going to the movies, some retail therapy, etc. I just am curious how some others dealt.

Do everything you want! Sleep in, make a mess, play your favorite music really loudly... enjoy the time! It's only two weeks, after all.

I'm also now in the "soon to be affected this way" category.

Pras has to go to India to deal with resignation (she asked leave to make last year's trip, on K-1, to US; now it has to be finalised). She will be leaving 3/19 and returning 4/11. As it covers the last fortnight of Lent...

Also, trying to assuage her anxieties (the "rush-job" ticket was booked with a connector to/through---JFK).

Vegetable gardening. Husband is gone a minimum 2 weeks in a year due to TDYs (military). Last year, he was gone for 8 weeks for Officer's training, I started my vegetable garden, he was surprised when he got back. It was a good way to pass the time, and of course, eat healthy.

It is funny you brought up the military. I was talking to my husband last night and said I really don't know how the military spouses deal with separation brought on by active duty. They have to be some of the strongest people in the world.

It's only two weeks. It'll be over before you know it! Have fun! Everyone should have a life of their own or they become dull and boring for their spouse.

I just arrived back from the BEST trip home to England ever!!! I missed my husband but i kept busy and would go again in a heartbeat if we had the finances!

Have fun do what you please and the time when he arrives home will be fab!

My son and I travelled back to Canada (5 1/2 weeks) in July 2005. Drove 2200 miles across the U.S. to the east side of Canada. My husband couldn't go due to not having any vacation time. He said he kept himself busy with work, housework and yardwork as well as visiting with friends and family. It didn't hurt also that I emailed him daily from my daughter's computer in Canada.

Two weeks is not long. It will fly.

when I was home helping my dad take care of things while Mom was dealing with chemotherapy, my hubby worked a lot of overtime.

when my hubby was gone on business trips, I enjoyed having the whole dang bed to myself!

we made sure we talked lots.

ah but business trips are different.. to a year of vj whining of how long the visa is taking, and after the 'alien' goes to the USA, there's another year of whining of how he/she misses home etc etc.. so u either wanted to be with ur SO, or wanted to be home..
