IS this the correct NBI Clearance? (pic attached)

My wife went to her scheduled NBI clearance appointment today but unfortunately she wasn't able to get it. Apparently her now married name got a hit on their database, probably just a namesake. My last name is really common in the PH so she said it's my fault she have to come back on August 28! Really that long? Anyway, we don't have our case # yet, but we want to get ahead of things. But what a minor setback. Sigh.

She also said that she asked the NBI agent that she wants to have her AKA/other names used to reflect on the clearance. The guy asked if it was for the immigration, she said yes. Then the guy said that the address on the clearance should be the intended address abroad. So she had the agent changed her PH address to my US address on the computer. I wonder if that is really the right way to do it? Anyone have the same experience?

Thank you.

 The guy is filling you with Bull Durham! The address is the Philippines address. OMG some agents are just stupid. :bonk: In the purpose section you list as "travel to USA". Your done!

Make sure you get ALL AKA's used on the NBI and don't let them tell you otherwise, or you are back their with a 221(g) after the interview to resolve this or USEM will not release your visa. She has to be stern with these people, especially when she get's and idiot. It's a sad day when you have to be smarter at their job then they are.

She did choose travel to US as the purpose on the online application. She also said that the people who were in line before her also got the "with hit" on theirs. My wife said maybe they ran out paper for printing ? or they just want to go home (she was there 4pm and they close at 5)

I wont have a problem with my wife being stern since she's the kind of person that will insist on and on about something she is not satisfied with.

She said she stood there on the counter/booth talking to the guy longer than she's supposed to. She said to the guy that all she needs is to reflect the AKA on the clearance. And the guy said it will.

We'll see when my wife picks up her clearance next next week. ??

Ever since I have a hit at NBI coz my name is so common. Not a big deal but a hassle coz it takes weeks to get the clearance. What I did to lessen the burden is to get it ahead of time.

If she's using her married name it will appear on the clearance together with her full maiden name so don't worry if she didn't put the married name under AKA. That's what I did before and there were no issues with the embassy.

Unless she used other names (ex: from previous marriage) or had name errors/corrections on her BC, that must be put under AKA.

Good luck!

The agent at NBI is full of IT.

Your wife, needs an NBI with the AKA for other names used, listing her maiden name and all other names used. The HIT is not a major deal, just a slight delay.

Thank you very much for the replies ?

Yes, I also think the NBI employee is either un informed or just full of cr@p.

But as long as we're able to get what we need then it's his problem now hhe. But i really hope NBI can do something about it.

My wife will come back on Aug28 and hopefully by that time we'll have our case number from NVC. I keep calling them but with no success ??

  • 2 months later...

Hi. Sorry if I seem to highjack your thread.. But I just want to ask about the AKA on the NBI clearance. I have a copy of my wife's NBI clearance and I dont see the A.K.A.on hers, it has her married name, maiden name printed.. I dont really understand the AKA thing. Does the word A.K.A (also known as) has to be printed on the NBI clearance itself? She doesnt have any other names used just her maiden name. Anyways I sent all our documents to NVC a month ago and we're waiting for the next step.

Thanks and Goodluck.

Hi there. So it has been my long confusion about the NBI Clearance needed for NVC and the US Embassy in Manila with the AKA requirement. I am confused about the "A.K.A" if it should appear on the Clearance itself, meaning it is typed on the paper??) I don't know what the NBI Clearance should look now since it has been years ago when I saw one. So on the attached picture, is this what they need? (Sorry. I had to blurred out my Wife's info) thank you. And I know this is a really dumb question/concern but I just had to ask. My wife only changed her last name when we got married. No spelling corrections, etc.

Thank you.

Thanks and Goodluck.

hello! What my husband told me is that they didnt put the A.K.A, instead they put Y. EX. MARIA LOURDES GOMEZ Y VILLALOBOS. thats how they did his. On top was my husbands correct name then under it is HIS FIRST NAME THEN THE CORRECT MIDDLE NAME Y MIDDLE NAME THAT IS SHOWIN ON HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
