Hello,

I'm an Indian citizen but also a Permanent resident of Toronto from last 3 years. When I applied for K1 visa I selected Montreal consulate as the final interview consulate. My form i-129f was approved on 29th of september and my case has still not arrived at the NVC. Montreal consulate is back logged with no interview dates available for next 2-3 months. Is there a way I can change the consulate and go to New Delhi for the final interview?

Many Thanks!!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hey fellow Indian/Canadian,

My case was completed on Sept 24. I was able to set up a date within a week(for dec 7). Usually around the 29 ish of each month the montreal embassy opens up dates for interview. They have already set up interviews till dec 18ish (unless they open more dates to accommodate more ppl and I wouldnt count on the last 2 weeks of dec due to holidays).

If you think forwarding it to delhi embassy will get u a sooner date than January(after accounting for NVC receiving it, processing it, shipping it and then you collecting the required documents and getting medical done ), sure forwarding it to delhi is a smart idea. You will have to keep calling NVC and get them to send it to a different embassy. If NVC has already sent out ur case then you will have to co -ordinate between delhi and montreal embassies and get them to transfer the case(which it self would take a few weeks).

Hope that made sense, didnt confuse you further and helps u make a good decision.

Thanks for replying back dude! My case was approved on Sept 29th and still has not made it to the NVC. I was wondering if I can call the NVC and request them to transfer it to delhi consulate then it might be month or two earlier compared to Montreal!at the NVC. Now I don;t know how much extra processing time will it add at the NVC. I checked the delhi consulate today and the earliest date they had for the K1 visa is Oct 29th. This is the forum about Montreal that is driving me nuts

Also for the police check in canada, I can go to any RCMP location and ask them for the police record or criminal name check?

Thanks

Well to give you some frame of reference. My case got approved on Aug 18 and it didnt reach montreal till 20 september. .... So I would wait 2 more weeks before becoming antsy (if montreal is what ur considering). I would add atleast another week for it to each india. Here is a suggestion. Why dont u get ur case transfered to vancouver. They have one on 24 nov and tons in december.

PCC... I initialy got the name check... and at the end of the letter they wrote a very ambiguous line that said "more intensive search with RCMP records may or may not reveal criminal records " that annoyed me and I went and go the finger printed one and it looked more legit. I have although heard on the forum that both are accepted.

Mucho Gracias. I will get the PCC done this saturday and fill out the DS 160 once I receive the MTL case #. how are you able to check the availability at Vancouver? I thought you could only check it once you have your DS 160 ready, paid the interview fee and stuff..

I have all my paper work in including medical, DS160,fee. All I am doing right now is waiting till dec 7 for the interview. The portal gives me an option of changing the date. and also allows me to look at open dates in Vancouver
