PreciousOne!

Congrats! My parents are going later for medical today later today May 18. They arrived at the hotel an hour ago.

thank you! Well my parents were so nervous and my mom is weak becoz of her diabetes but they made it! The wait is longer on their 2nd day than the 1st day. My dad got a stamped of "immunization" and he's done by 11 am but my mom got a stamp of "medical on process" and they waited for 4 hours til her name was called. But thankfully nothing was negative on her medical something was just missing and after they review it they called her and do her immunization. My mom was done at 3pm but its all worth the wait. Goodluck to your parents too!

Hello everyone,

My mom got her medical exam out of the way yesterday, and everything went well. She is supposed to pickup the sealed envelope next Tuesday, and her interview is June 28, 2016 at 09:00 am.

I had a couple of questions based on some posts I have been reading around here:

1. What is this AP, that everyone is so afraid of that they could be put under AP during the interview? Can someone explain?

2. I received my appointment date (Interview Letter P4) via email, and I did not have to go through http://ustraveldocs.com/ to get the appointment, nor did I have to contact the embassy to get the appointment. But I was under the impression that you had to sign in through some other website (aside from https://ceac.state.gov/), and pay yet another "visa fee", am I mistaken? Are there any more fees that I will have to pay, and if so where do I pay them?

3. In the Interview Letter P4, under the list of documents my mom must bring to the embassy, some of those documents were marked with Y, which means "The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. However, when I check my case status on this website: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx It still says "At NVC". What does this mean? will this change eventually? will they actually "send" something to the Embassy?

Thank you for any answers you might give me, I can't seem to find answers elswhere.

Edit: Yes there is one more fee to pay! It's called Immigrant Fee. The consular officer or the embassy will tell you how you can pay it after passing the interview. It's $165.

3. In the Interview Letter P4, under the list of documents my mom must bring to the embassy, some of those documents were marked with Y, which means "The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Congrats :)

1. AP is administrative processing. The interviewing officer has the power to approve, reject or put your application under AP. It means they need additional time to process, and that time can range anywhere from weeks to months. It's a black hole, and there is no way to obtain status of your application even after 60 days.

2. Immigrant visa fee is already paid online and the interview is scheduled by NVC for you. For non-immigrants, it's a different process. They have to schedule an appointment and pay the fee. HOWEVER, do look at your embassy's guidelines. Go to this website and download the PDF for your embassy: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare.html

As per Mumbai embassy, we had to schedule a VAC appointment to get biometrics done before the visa interview. Other embassies might have different requirements.

3. NVC will send your application file to the embassy within a week, and the embassy will receive it soon after.

Thank you BearinABox,

I did look at my own embassy's instructions pdf and they are not clear either, so I emailed them, hopefully they answer soon.

Thanks again,

Hey guys,

Quick update. I was checking the CEAC Website today and noticed the status changed to In Transit. I called NVC and asked if my case had been forwarded to the Embassy and the guy told me it had actually been sent today. I had read some other threads on how to Track your case from NVC to Embassy and found an old 2009 thread with some old instructions. I was wondering if anyone on this thread had tried it.

I tried it, but I think because my package had just left today there is nothing to be tracked yet. Like maybe it's not on DHL's system yet.

What I read on the other thread on How To Track Your Case from NVC To Embassy was more or less this (I updated the instructions a bit):

1- When you know from NVC that your case was forwarded to your embassy (mm/dd/yyyy), lets take my example case forwarded to Venezuelan embassy on May 25th 2016
3- Then under Shipper´s Reference put the reference number in this format EXP 24 MAY 2016A
4- Select a date range... here you should note that in my example the case was supposedly sent today, but I am entering yesterday's date because they schedule the shipping day before so that DHL knows in advance when they will ship it. So, the day before the date they gave you over the phone will be your exact day for NVC shipping your case to your embassy. Therefore, I selected yesterdays date on the Date range for shipment - From field, and todays date in the Date range for shipment - To field.
5 - Select your country under the location drop down menu. I selected Venezuela
6- Click the Track>> Button.
Of course, if you input my info it shows nothing, I guess because it just happened today. Maybe I will check again tomorrow to see.
Has anyone else used this? Did it work? where you able to track your package?
Just curious.
