Husband SSI can affect my AOS?

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

My husband and I got married last year and I came back to the US and finally after many dificulties we decided to do the AOS, my husband is Bipolar and I knew this after 2 months of dating when he was afraid of telling me but it didnt matter, I love him the same. I knew he was applying for SSDi but I know it wouldn't be a problem for my AOS because he really have it hard when he become manic and want to travel and he left many jobs in the past because of his illnes. Today we got a letter from the judge that is handling his case; we send my AOS in september and I did the fingerprints on 10/15.

The letter is for his case hearing but when i read the letter it says SSDi and Suplemental Security Income (file in January 2014, we met in April 2014 and had no idea until today about the Suplemental S. Income. We have his father as my joint sponsor because his income is low, So far no RFE but my question is: If he is granted SSI(suplemental) on november(day of the hearing) would this affect my AOS and chances of being legal here? I dont want to mention anything to my husband because he gets nervous and anxious. Please help!

Oh, thank you so much, I feel relief, because I know my husband suffer from bipolar since he was a teenager and even so he does have a job but is very low salary, my father in law is our sponsor and he does meet the income he makes like $150,000 a year, and his household is only 2 and now 3 with me.

I am curious as to why you need to make those comments about your husband when your issue should have nothing to do with him been "maniac, bipolar, etc"?

I dont understand your coment. Bipolar is like that they are either depress or manic, my husband happend to experience more phases of mania than depression, but for someone who do not understand bipolar they can sometimes get scared or think something different like me in the beggining.

Mania ( doesnt mean that my husband is running around with white clothes in a hospital) if that is what you are thinking, every person who is bipolar has different syntoms and my husband happend to get very anxious and a high urge to travel in the spur of the moment, leaving behind his job and family and not even telling anyone where he was until this urge is calm down he used to come back to the country and then realize the consecuences ( lost his job, even previous relationship because of this) and other syntoms I rather not tell u, but if you would like to know more about bipolar you will find a lot of information in google. If my comment about my husband issue was not of your taste Im sorry but I just wanted people to understand my question so they could help me with the answer as I know not everyone understand the word bipolar. that was all.

I think what Ayisi&Phyllis was trying to say was that your husband's condition and any details about his behaviour were not related to your immigration question.

But you receive the advice you needed. :) If the US citizen spouse receives government benefits, there is nothing to worry about. (If you had applied for/received them, then there would have been a huge problem. But you are not, so you are 100% fine). Good luck!
