Hi all. My husband is USC and are currently in the filing process. I live in Jamaica but he wants to add me to his insurance and wants to open joint account but I don't have a SSN. Anyone knows what the process is or if it's even possible to do what we want to do?

Insurance companies and banks usually ask for some form of Identification when adding a spouse to a policy. For me, both my bank and medical insurance asked for the following of my wife:

1. Her passport

2. Her SS number

3. Marriage certificate

My bank additionally requested:

1. EAD or Green Card

Applied for and got ITIN. Used that in place of ssn. Banks wanted copy of ITIN paper, copy of passport, copy of drivers license, and w8-BEN.

Ur husband should be able to add u to insurance using marriage certificate. My husband had me added to his n I'm here in Jamaica. However to be added to his account you will have to be present as there are document that you will need to sign as well and for sure you'll need ssn, Id, proof of address

Two souls ? with but a single thought, two ? that beat as one. M & K ?

My local bank told me same thing until I contacted the main office. My wife is nonresident, with itin, she is joint account holder on our accounts as well as having been given her own account numbers to use when or if she decides to open her own personal account.
