heyy everyone...My fiance is in active duty in Turkey. We are going to marry in February and his duty ends here in May. Do you think i can be able to get my visa until his leaving? He is not getting deployed anytime soon can we still ask for an expedite? The consulate here doesn't have a DCF but can we still ask for it since he is in the military? And should he put me on his command sponsorship as soon as we got married? too much questions...Thank you!! :)

Unless he's being deployed no expedite. It'll probably take a year to 14 months depending on caseload.

I ve seen plenty of cases completed in 150-200 days (Turkey timeline) plus i ve seen plenty of expedites that military people had when they werent getting deployed. How is that possible than?

hey,

why don't you guys just apply for K1? it would be completed in about 4-5 months, most def until May. Then, you would leave with him and get married in the US. easy and smooth

Expeditions applies when he PSCs to another country other than the US, like if he were going to Germany after Turkey. does that make sense?

I guess your are confused about being deployed. he needs to have orders for "Permanent Station Change" or deployment (temporary station) overseas (outside of the US) to be eligible for expedite option. He's now deployed in Turkey and he'll be back to his station in the US in May.

Thanks for the info! The reason we dont apply for a K1 visa is because we want to have a Turkish wedding with my family and stuff...if we get a K1 visa we will not be able to have a wedding how we want it...and he may get an extension for staying here until October. Do you know anything about the DCF in here that they can do it since he is in the military? Thank you so much again..

DCF is not possible, sorry :(

Ahh, the families...I can't comment on that. That's up to you.

Once you get married and send your docs&forms to USCIS Chicago Lockbox, be ready to wait around 1 year to get it all finalized. By the way, that wouldn't hurt to ask if they can expedite your case or not. No one can guarantee if they will accept or not. Just try. If they don't accept it, he may leave and you may follow later.

My experience is that being active duty military doesn't help much on its own. Actually it takes way much longer to pass thru security clearances as a spouse of a military member. Well, it's what happened to me. Every case is different.

Good luck!

I wouldn't take the timelines here as the only reference. Number of people here are very limited comparing to real number of people who applies for spousal or fiance visas. so the statistics are not that reliable or I may say not applicable for the most. Besides, every case is different. some takes longer, some shorter. Mine took 4 months to get approved (yes, K1) while timelines here was showing less than a month of waiting period. Go figure. I have seen many people stuck in USCIS for 14 months or more and people who got approved in 4-5 days.

If you wanna talk about this more, send me a message and I can explain you more in Turkish :)
