Hey everyone. My co sponsor is gathering his tax papers so we can take them to the embassy for the interview (Whenever that may arrise)

My lawyer says we need certified copies. My co sponsor took his completed forms all over town and nobody knew how to certify them. What is a certified copy anyway? I figured it means a simple notary.

Philippine attorney notarizations are no longer accepted by U.S. Immigration.

Taking U.S. Tax Papers to the Embassy? - never heard of that.

Submitting U.S. Tax Papers to NVC - that is standard along with the I-864 "Affidavit of Support".

Not sure about the "lawyer" you are referring to - I prefer to just read the U.S. Immigration instructions and follow them to the letter and then call them if I have any questions.

I personally would never hire a Philippine attorney for U.S. Immigration purposes.

Umm Philippine lawyer? Not sure where that came from Lawyer is in the US. My co sponsor is finalizing the affidavit paperwork with supporting documents that my wife will be taking with her to the interview.

My co sponsor is struggling to find out what a certified copy of his supporting documents are (his W2's and tax information papers). Personally I have no clue either and he even works for the city.

Actually I assume from the information on VJ, that the K3 interview will come by default since I did not personally submit a form to have NVC release the I-130 to Manila. So I guess I dont need to even worry about following up with the I-130 and I-864's now.

If you needed anything to be notarized.. I know that there are notaries at colleges, maybe they could help.

A copy of an official document, like a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or divorce decree, that has been certified by an official to be authentic and bears an original seal or embossed design.

By the way, you don't need to certify a ITR document.

ITR? Not sure what that is. How does one prove an "official" declairs it genuine? Wouldnt that just be a notary with his\her notary seal? Still confused.

Notary publics can certify a copy but with limitations. (from state to state)

Hi,

Orimai.....the ITR is an "Individual Tax Return"....this does NOT need to be certified or notorized...however if you are using a co-sponsor the co-sponsors needs to be notorized or certified. Co-sponsor can obtain a tax transcript from IRS or you can have any US norary notarize it.
