Hello everyone,
I am in a bit of a situation here. I applied for my parents immigrant visa and currently both my parent's cases are in NVC. During the final stage of the processing my mothers application got approved but my dad case is still pending because I completed the application of my dad a week later after my mom's. Now the table turned and I had to withdraw my dad's case due to some family issue. As soon as I heard about the issue I contacted NVC and the representative adviced me to send a withdrawal notice to nvc via email. I sent the with email for withdrawal and also a signed consent of withdrawal via email and now my dad's case is in AP for withdrawal. The issue here is that my mom's case is stuck in NVC and I have sent numerous emails and call over a period of a month to seperate my parents case and forward my mom's case to the embassy. But nvc is not sending the case to embassy and is on hold because of my dad's withdrawal case. Has anyone gone through this problem? What should I do now? Is waiting the only option I got ?

Thank you

Did they tell you your mom's case is delayed because of your dad's? Because it could just be the usual NVC delays. When did your mom's case arrive at NVC?

Also wondering how you know they are linked?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

My case arrived at NVC 4 months ago. Both the applications were completed about 2 months ago. I called NVC and they told me that since both the petition was made at the same time and being a family based petition both the applications were linked. I have sent them numerous emails and called them to send my moms case to the embassy but all efforts has been turned down by simple " Sorry sir , your mom case is on hold because it is linked to your fathers case. We have notified the supervisor to release your moms case but there has been no response from the supervisor yet."

That is interesting, did not know they did that. Sounds like you have to wait for human intervention.

that too.

Have you consulted with a Lawyer?

I am not sure what the current "official wait time" is at NVC, but if you are over that, you can get your US Senator or Congressman's office involved. Most of them have a specific staffer that handles immigration issues.

I have tried that too. It did not help me much. I got the exact same information from the office as I got from the customer service. I guess i ll just have to wait.

try contacting your US senator's office or congressperson and ask for them to inquire on your behalf. When our case was stuck at the NVC the immigration liaison worked wonders for us.

How long was your case stuck in nvc for ?

I just contacted NVC and the representative told me that my mothers case is waiting for the embassy to provide an interview date. No timeline has been provided. I asked her if my mother's case has been separated from my dad's case and the representative told me they are working on it right now. I was like that means the case is still on hold. And the representative told me yes but as soon as the embassy provides an interview date they will notify me. I am so confused.
