Tourist VISA Form Family Information

Hi,

I am a US citizen & a friend of will be applying for US Tourist Visa from Bangladesh. What i believe, the embassy usually issues a 5 year multiple entry visa to tourists. I Would appreciate if someone can extend a helping hand to answer below questions:

  • Whether or not he can use my US address & contact information on the DS-160 form? He will be staying in hotels for few days upon arrival & then will be on his own.
  • Will the US embassy contact me in anyway before granting/denying him VISA?
  • If he denies to return home after 6 months on a tourist visa will it cause any problem for me?
  • Will i be accountable if he violates law while in the US?

  • Will the US embassy contact me in anyway before granting/denying him VISA? Maybe yes and maybe no.
  • If he denies to return home after 6 months on a tourist visa will it cause any problem for me? No.
  • Will i be accountable if he violates law while in the US? No.

Mar 13, 2015 (day 17) - Mail notice received for Biometrics appointment on March 25, 2015.

Mar 25, 2015 (day 29) - Completed Biometrics, as scheduled.

May 12, 2015 (day 75) - AP/EAD approved and Card has been ordered.

May 27, 2015 (day 90) - AP/EAD Card received in the mailbox.

June 3, 2015 (day 97) - Received NPIW letter in the mailbox.

Sept 24, 2015 (day 212) - I-130/I-485 approved. No Interview.

Sept 28, 2015 (day 216) - GC mailed.

Sept 30, 2015 (day 218) - GC received.

On the DS-160 form it inquires about family/relative information & I am wondering if a friend is considers as " family/relative" in the eye of interviewer.

Then tell them the truth that you are a Friend and not a relative. If the Applicant has no relative here in the US, he can not lie to the US embassy people.

Means we should leave "family/relative" section BLANK / NA on in his DS-160 ?

I am sorry, but if the Applicant has no immediate relative in the US, he has to answer no or none, and N/A to the rest of the follow up questions. It doesn't need to have a relative in the USA to file for a Visitor's Visa.
