Request of Evidence - Affidavit of Support - Help Please

I sent in our AOS forms last month. I received receipts that they were received.

Today in the mail I received a yellow form asking for "Request for Initial Evidence" (I-485)

On page 2 it says: "Based on Documents submitted with Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, for the petitioner/sponsor.

Assets must equal the stated difference between the petitioner/sponsor's household income and 125% of the poverty guideline.

I'm confused - I am self-employed, so I submitted the last 3 tax returns - 2012, 2013 & 2014 - all incomes on Line 22 are well above

the 125% poverty number.

I did not submit any asset statements because I didn't think I needed to.

Am I missing something here? What is the 125% of the 2015 Federal Poverty Guideline?

I'm hoping that someone just made a clerical mistake.

Any thoughts or idea's?

The same happened to me, I am also self employed. The line is $ 19,912.50 for you and your spouse for 2015.

That is what line 22 must reflect. We were also over that line and still got the RFE.

Submit tax transcripts not just copies of the tax return.

I also submitted bank statements and a bank letter listing all deposits from the past 12 months, my professional state license,

a self employment business ledger with income made and PROJECTED income for the future.

I then pulled it all together with a letter explaining the nature of my 20 year business and why I expect the income to remain stable

in the future based on this and that.

On page 5 of the I-864 form it says "I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal Tax Return"...

How is a transcript different from the signed photocopy? and if they want a transcript why not just require that in the first place?

How do I get a transcript? is it sent directly to USCIS or to me and then I send it in?

Ok, I ordered the latest tax year transcript for 2014, so I will submit that.

But, a lot of my clients never give me a 1099 - maybe half of them, so

I don't have enough of them from last year to total my Gross Income Amount.

Hopefully they will believe the tax transcript from the IRS...

What they say and what they RFE for is not always in sync.

We as self employed people do not have W2's and pay stubs so they want to look a bit deeper and see all complete schedules that come

with the official IRS transcript. Just call and order and you have it in a week and then submit with the rest of your financial evidence.

Hopefully they will, send the business ledger with projected income and the other items I mentioned too, if you don't get it right after the

RFE they sometimes deny instead of sending another one. It took me about 4 weeks to figure out how to go about it and freaked out after

the RFE, went to a CPA and lawyer for consultation and they said I should have never received an RFE and there isn't anything more they

could do than I already had lined up myself.
