Post Interview, Visa approval..passport?

My understanding post a successful interview, the beneficiary must surrender their original passport so it can be embedded w/ the visa approval/stamped...whatever.

This is likely the only 'original documentation' one may surrender custody over, no?

Question is on the UStraveldoc site for VN, others are different, it says passport is sent via VN Post? I have no idea how that works or mail in general works in VN but my fiance has yet to receive a single piece of correspondence to her home in this whole process. Therefore (hopefully approved) so I'm very wary of having the passport sent there??!

Can it be sent somewhere else or just be retrieved at the Consulate?

What did you friends do?

Thanks

There are 2 pieces of paper your spouse should have upon completing the interview. One is a small piece of paper that has the address of where you would like your stuff sent to. Required 2 names, 1 address. Expedite takes 3-4 days for 240,000 VND. The other piece is ustraveldocs website where you need to go there to register the address where the docs will be sent to. Not sure why they had us do that but it takes 2 mins so you might have missed something, which states that it could delay delivering your docs

Not done by mail but a courier service the embassy uses - door to door delivery.

Ustraveldocs site is just used for the address for the courier and no there is not any option to pickup at the consulate. Since K1 I think the site is also used for scheduling too.

My fiance had her interview on Oct. 7. They gave her the paper to fill out address/passport#/issue and expired date. When she went to the courrier window, she was expected to paid for VNpostal but they told her she doesnt need to pay. Even on her approved paper, it stated that they passport with visa will be mailed with no additional charge/cost. Anyone else experienced this? Until now, ceac is still "Ready" and has been status updated 3 times on 10/13, 10/15 and 10/16 but still "Ready" was expecting "AP" then "Issued".

Also on ustraveldocs states "Passport is still at US Consulate".

I am just worried cuz she didnt pay/was not ask for VN post payment...her visa would delay :/

The passport is to be turned in right before the interview, along with the original Ho Khau, Chung Minh Nhan Dan (CMND), birth certificate, etc. If she passes, they will keep her passport and return the Ho Khau, CMND. If not, they will return everything to her right there and then.

Passport will be delivered by EMS to the address that you put on ustraveldocs.com. It does not have to be the address in her Ho Khau. You will have a chance to make changes to the delivery address after the interview, before you leave the consulate. The Visa package will include a sealed Brown envelope (only to be opened by US immigration officer at POE), her passport with the K1 Visa stamp, all supporting documents that you originally submitted with your I-129F application, pictures, etc.
