Road Trip to Canada?

My fiancé finally arrived from Ireland on his K-1 fiancé visa. We were thinking of taking a road trip to Canada for a couple days but were wondering if it may be problematic for/because of his visa?

After K1 visa arrival, and POE (at which time your K1 visa is voided), you now have 90 days to get married. After getting married, in order to do any internationally travel, your partner has to apply to AOS/EAD/AP concurrently. He can travel internationally only after receiving his EAD/AP combo card. Yeah, once your fiance entered the US they need to stick around and not cross US borders until they have their AP.

If ya'll cross the border, there's a good chance your fiance won't be let back in, that's assuming he's even let into Canada.

The K-1 visa allows for one entry into the US and is voided upon entry. If your fiancé leaves the US, then he will need a legal way to re-enter the US. He can't reuse the voided K-1 visa.

Typically, a K-1 will marry and file for AP along with the AOS. Once the AP is in hand, the person can leave the US and come back.
