Trying to get the docs ready and the only thing i have is the insurance cards, is this enough? Not really finding any documents that look suitable to bring :s

Try to get some more stuff that can be obtained easily like joint bank account from any bank with the minimum fees and you can get a print of your account together in the same day..

Also attach pictures of you and your spouse in diffierent occasion with family in law and friends and together in ceremony...make a collage and add various pictures as you want.

Any statment shows the same address you and your spouse reside in the same place.

All these simple things count, I did all what I mentioned above, we didn't have insurance card though, and we haven't been asked for RFE.

Good Luck!

I'm assuming that you're only asking about documentation to prove joint health/vision/dental insurance, and that you're okay with getting all the other possible kinds of evidence together :-)

The cards alone might be enough (I don't have any direct experience with that - we didn't even have joint health insurance, because the arcane pricing methods of US insurers meant it was cheaper for us to have separate plans), but if you've received any kind of healthcare under the plan, perhaps the Explanation Of Benefits statements would show the plan number and both names?

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

I think a copy is ok. We took originals and copies of everything we'd already submitted for the I-864, and the IO didn't even look at any of it. The only additional original documents we brought that related to the I-864 were my wife's two most recent payslips (we didn't need a joint sponsor) as evidence of her ongoing ability to meet the requirements. The IO didn't look at those either.

(I always wonder what constitutes an "original" tax return anyway. Surely the original is what was submitted to the IRS, so all anyone would ever have is a copy?)

Tried to edit the previous post, but it was too late. At least now I know how long the edit window is... :)

Wanted to add one thing: make sure you bring a copy of every original document you take to your interview, unless you're willing to let them keep the originals. I just glanced through our documents binders; I'd forgotten just how many of our copies they kept for the file. They kept copies of joint bank statements, joint insurances, joint utility bills, joint memberships (gym, AAA etc), legal documents like wills and medical POA naming each other as beneficiary or agent, evidence that we were each others emergency contact for various purposes (e.g. doctor, employer), plus the originals of the notarized letters we had from family and friends. They also appreciated our having a copy of both our drivers licenses ready - they asked us for the licenses so that they could go make a copy for the file, and having one already available saved them a couple of minutes.
