I tend to lean towards Israel however pretending that current events exist in a vacuum and trying to make out that Israel has not at times and places also been a bad actor is pretty weak sauce.

The burning of this church is as much an act of Islam, as the bombings in Alabama were the work of true christians; however, It does sell papers, and makes for good internet fodder, to present it in such a manner to make it fit the myopic narrative espoused by the less aware among us.

Whose arguing that? If you are a Muslim, you follow Islam. So break out those stats.

In the current context, neither side is free of guilt or responsibility. There are a few bad individuals on both sides, and they give everyone a bad name.

I tend to lean towards Israel however pretending that current events exist in a vacuum and trying to make out that Israel has not at times and places also been a bad actor is pretty weak sauce.

Why do I need stats you agreed with me. I think ?

What are we agreeing about? Islamic isn't the same thing as extremist if that's what you're implying.

Good thing too. I'd have to move. LOL

You know some people don't want to tell the difference between the two. Which is sad.

I don't think they actually know who burned that church. The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is over 1700 years old. Tourism is huge in that community, so I am wondering who stands to gain over a burned church.

From a strictly gain standpoint I can see no beneficiaries but the "Jewish-only" settlements that ring the city. Based on what I know or have read these neighborhoods are the ONLY places where if you are Muslim or Christian, you are not allowed to live there.

This is a writer for a Christian organization

Driving into Bethlehem isn’t easy. But any movement around the West Bank is curtailed by checkpoints that work to thwart, frustrate and intimidate anyone seeking to travel even very short distances. The huge omnipresent Separation Wall combines with these checkpoints to constantly enforce the permanency of the Occupation – shocking in its scale and shocking in its mute imprisonment of an entire population.

Bethlehem originally extended to 31 square kilometres in diameter but now only spans 5.7 square kilometres as settler land theft and the expanding Wall perimeters have continually eaten away Palestinian territory.

There are some 22 Israeli colonies ringing this historic city and these house about 87,000 illegal residents who use Jewish only roads and attend Jewish only schools and shops and use up to 82% of the available water resources.

And according to Bethlehem’s mayor, Victor Batarseh, all the city’s agricultural land has been confiscated. Land that was owned by hundreds of families from Bethlehem and land that provided a living for generations of Palestinians.

This land confiscation has continued relentlessly as the Wall delineates the territory colonised by illegal settlements. In January this year, another 7000 dunams (7,000 square meters) of land was stolen. This was agricultural land that used to grow centuries old olive trees.

We leave the city centre not in awe of it’s Christian heritage but silenced by the reality of life in Bethlehem now in 2012.

I am also wondering why this fellow member of ours continually and consistently lies to us and should we continue to tolerate it.

Living in the Mideast is an eye-opener for sure. Generally I've found them to be pretty good folks.

I've been there and Malaysia. Both good places.

Amazing . I said Islamic people are Muslims. Yet somehow you took offense to that. Does everything offend you.

Do not Muslims adhere to Islam.?

That was as benign and factual as one can get.
