k-1 Refused on CEAC... Urgent need help

I need help with steps I need to take to either keep the case from going back to NVC or whatever else I can do.

I have been checking CEAC site throughout the day, every day since my fiance had his interview. We were put into AP under 221g for missing medical and police records/court documents. We got an email a week ago saying they got all documents and our case was being looked over by an officer. It has been just over 30 days since the interview and about an hour ago I checked CEAC for the 10th time today and found it changed to REFUSED. It says nothing else and there are no emails saying anything. We have already sent an email to the embassy requesting specifics but it is the end of the day Friday so chances are we won't hear anything until Monday at the earliest.

Long story short, we were fast tracked the entire way and even his interview went extremely well. They even took his passport because they were pretty sure he would be approved. We went into AP for the missing documents which were all turned in.

I have done many hours of research for every possible outcome, as I want to always prepare. The issue is that my brain is no longer working with the shock going on and I need assistance with the steps I can take to possibly keep the K-1 alive and keep it from going to rot at the NVC.

I know somewhere along the lines, there is a way to contact a congressman; Who/what is the congressman and/or where do I find out who it is?

Is there steps I take before contacting them and steps I take afterwards? Any assistance asap will help!

I would not speculate on ANY meaning attached to what you see at CEAC website. If the Consulate has completed their review, they will contact your fiance. There's virtually nothing you can do, if the case is being returned to the US, except to prepare to start over. A little patience is in order. Don't overreact to the website status. It may be meaningless.

Our case is slightly different as we did not get an approval at the interview, but a possible approval pending the other information. It's been updated every couple of days but nothing has changed other than update day until now. We have not heard anything about what is going on other than the review. At this point, I am preparing for it to be a genuine refusal and what I need to do in that case.

I understand. However, your question is similar to asking, after a bullet is fired at you, what should I do to avoid it hitting me? Before you can even think such a question, it's already too late. For all intents and purposes, there's really nothing you CAN do that will is likely to make a difference, but certainly nothing you can do based on the website status alone. If they are not going to issue the visa, they'll communicate that directly. Patience.

Sorry to hear this has happened.

I know what it's like to obsessively check the CEAC website for updates so it would have been devestating to see that message.

I would wait until hearing from the embassy with a return email on what is going on. They may have used REFUSED as a temporarily

status until they are finished processing which may take a week or so.

The only other thing you can do is to make an inquiry through the senator as to what exactly your status is

and if it will be returned. If that is the case find out the reason and request a second interview before the petition leaves the embassy.

I highly doubt they used it as a temporary status. They do put cases in AP when the visa is being printed, so maybe they selected from a drop down menu and meant to click AP and went too far and selected "Refused" by accident?

Yeah, you do need to wait for the embassy, but research congressional inquiry if needed. Worse case scenario is they found conflicting information or something wrong with the police certificate. Best case, is the status was updated in error.

What does your AA# from the DS-160 say? Does your NVC case number say "Immigrant" or "Nonimmigrant" on the top?

Update posted in another post. Yes we were indeed refused, however we are able to file the waiver. I will know more when he gets the full details in the mail.
