Hi, guys,

I got to the stage where I'm applying for citizenship. (I'm Eastern European, who originally came on a B1 visa in 2008)

Got my conditional green card through marriage to a US citizen in April, 2009. It was difficult because of the Stokes interview they subjected us to in November, 2009 - apparently, they had doubts because of the timing, the brevity of the courtship period (5 months before we plunged into the marriage), etc. But, grueling as it was, we passed. Got my conditional card issued to me in April, 2010.

Then my wife and I split up because she turned out to have bipolar disorder and other diagnoses that she'd hidden from me, which really exacerbated the relations to the point of no return. She'd hidden all that from me when we were dating and only confessed shortly before the AOS interview in San Fran. I made the best of it for several months but the mood swings routine could only last so long. In the end we called it off, as I couldn't stand it.

During the removal of conditions in October, 2012 it all went surprisingly smoothly. I applied based on a divorce that I'd already obtained and on the basis of the cruelty my wife had inflicted on me psychologically when she was threatening to throw me out of the country. She had stooped to threatening me with deportation under the coercion she was exercising on me: I either had to do as she pleased or else I'd get booted out. The officer was understanding and the interview didn't even last 10 minutes. I had a lawyer by me. Two days later the officer approved my application to remove the conditions in a surprisingly smooth procedure (I had prepared for hard grilling considering the initial Stokes interview, but there was no grilling).

in May, 2015 I had the citizenship interview and it was a single-person Stokes - the officer grilled me for an hour on everything about the relationship with my wife - where we'd met, who my co-sponsor was, etc. The officer was really suspicious and incredulous at first, but then as I explained everything (my wife's hiding of her diagnoses, my learning thereof accidentally, her Seroquel and Lamictal prescriptions, the medical marijuana she'd been prescribed by her psychiatrist, her coercion of me to be next to her 24/7 due to her paranoia and fear of persecution, etc.) she became a bit more relenting. She asked me if I did any extracurricular stuff and I told her I went to church, whereupon she was favorably impressed. She eased up on me towards the end, asking all the administrative questions on the application, etc.

At the end of the interview she did something no one is mentioning on this forum, it seems - she gave me a white sheet of paper with my name, DOB, SSN, etc., and told me to sign in the white space "for the preparation of the naturalization certificate." That seemed a tad odd, considering her initial reservations. I signed it, and she then proceeded to hand me the "no decision can be made on your application today" sheet, telling me to wait for the 120 days. Prior to that I had sailed through the English and civics.

It's soon going to be 150 days since the N-400 interview in San Fran. I've been waiting and thinking of the outcome. Can anyone offer any hints as to what the result might be, judging by everything I've relayed here? I've read they rarely do denials after the first month of waiting, but who knows!.....

Thanks ever so.

lambchop2, did you call to check on the status of your case ?

Yes, called the 1-800 number and then the district office mailed me a letter stating it was still being reviewed. My congresswoman's office also inquired but they gave them the same brush-off of generalities ("You'll have correspondence from them within 90 days.").

Are you sure ?she could have kept it hidden from you(this is just an assumption based on whatever you put in your poist)

Hello, I'm completely certain about that - no doubts whatsoever there. What do you think, in general?

Sounds like waiting for the oath ceremony is your only concern now. What an inspiring story.
