Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and would really love some help. I received the following notice from the NVC and was wondering what my next steps were:

"The National Visa Center (NVC) received your fiancé(e)'s approved I-129 F Petition from from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in SANTO DOMINGO. Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or consulate will contact your fiancé(e) when they are ready to process his or her petition.

Next Steps:

Go to our website http://nvc.state.gov/k1 to learn how to apply for a K visa and prepare for the visa interview.

They also included a case number: SDO********** and my USCIS Receipt Number: WAC**********"

Should I be waiting on another letter from them or do I have to submit something?

Thank you in advance for any and all help, it's truly much appreciated!

Receiving your NVC case # is a very good step in getting your visa. This is a link for what happens throughout the whole process.

Thanks! The timeline has been very helpful. I guess my confusion is paying for the DS-160 processing fee. Do we submit the application first or do we wait for a letter from the NVC requesting payment?

NVC had done their job already, nothing needs to be sent to them.

NVC will now send your case to the embassy.

The embassy will communicate with your fiancé now, and will instruct where to go for medical, where to pay for DS-160, and any other instructions. The embassy will let you know if any other documents are needed.

So look/wait for communication from the embassy.

So sorry for all the questions but just to clarify my next step should be to submit the DS-160 and then await for communication from the embassy?

Thanks!

Follow the steps outlined here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

You are currently at step 6.

DS-160 should be filled out at step 9.

Perfect! I finally understand! Sorry it took so long for that to click. My Fiancé hasn't received anything from the embassy yet and we received notification that the case was forwarded from the NVC on 9/28 with the letter being dated 9/23. I will call the embassy tomorrow to see if they received our case since its been a few weeks. Thank you for all your patience and help! :star:

Just go to the above link I posted and check the location of the petition.

There you can tell if it is "in transit", "ready" or even still "at nvc"
