You can have 2 petitions for the person, the mother petitions and the wait is over 6 years but if something happens and mom dies then the sibling petition still is there for backup and theperson still comes. Otherwise the person doesn't come until a petition filed later becomes current.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Nobody expects you to, why would you? Always think it is odd when somebody suggests you could.

Not something I keep a particular track of but something that comes up on a fairly regular basis. Seems a lot of people seem to think that a child can get a derivative visa when of course they can not.

You can petition your daughter once you get here and go back after getting re entry permit. It only takes couple of months to do the bio metrics and you are good to go back. Your daughter already has a visa and she can come along and stay with you while waiting for re entry permit. re entry permit is valid for two years and meanwhile you will hopefully be able to get her immigrant visa as current waiting period for F2a category is 1&1/2 yrs.

Kausar....I'm going thru consular processing....are you saying that I have to come to the US and then go back for her....that's what I trying to avoid...leaving her behind is my issue

you said your daughter has tourist visa, right!. you can bring your daughter along with you to US. After entering US , file i 130 for her. get re entry permit for yourself , go back to your home country along with your daughter and wait for her immigrant visa.

Makes you wonder what the PoE will think when the mother turns up with an immigrant visa and the daughter with a visitor visa.
