K1 visa, petitioner accompanying fiancé to interview?

My fiancé's interview is coming up on November 2nd. I'm debating on if I should accompany him to the interview. Is there a higher probability of him getting approved for the K1 visa, if I, the petitioner attend the interview with him? I feel like it would be a very good sign to the consulate officers that I went out of my way to travel for the interview.

I know the Bosnian embassy allows the fiancé to be there. What do you guys think?

I think going to the interview with your fiance, especially if you are allowed to be present, is a HUGE plus in any way you look at it. I wouldn't hesitate and I'd book the trip right away.

Indeed, numerous times.

The US Consulate Officer in Guangzhou (GUZ) commented when my then-fiancee slid my blue US passport under the window on top of the other documents, "Oh, he is here." He glanced at it, took my letter, and returned my passport. You bet I was there ! I made the 14(+) hour flight because I wanted to give moral support to my partner in one of the most stressful and important times in our relationship. The GUZ' policy is not to allow US petitioners into the interview. So, I did what I could do. Don't know if it made a difference, it certainly didn't hurt (and it counted as another trip to see each other). For our family, it was priceless. Read our consulate review for more details.

Regardless of whether the petitioner is allowed into the interview, or is in the waiting area, or is outside on the consular premises, how much does the beneficiary's presentation of the U.S. passport add to the perception of a bona fide relationship?

I did come across a few posts asking if the US petitioner is allowed at the interview but I couldn't find anything about if it increases the chance of our approval.

I feel that if I'm there, it could possibly increase our chances and the consular officer will see that I went out of my way to fly across the country to morally support my fiancé and be there during the interview. We have enough evidence to prove that we're in a bonafide relationship, but if I'm there in person, it could be even more beneficial to our case.

I have a friend that went through the K1 process at the same embassy and they had no problems letting her inside the embassy and attending the interview. On the other hand, I saw a review on VJ indicating that they didn't let a petitioner inside at my consulate. I'm not sure why.

I'm going to give the embassy a call and figure out if I'm 100% able to attend the interview with my fiancé.

There's a 50/50 chance of me going, there's 18 days until the interview so I have to make the decision fast. I would love to go but it's very expensive to travel, but if it could help our case, I'm definitely willing to travel. ??

In my opinion, Bosnian consulate isn't a hard one and if you have a straightforward case with plenty of proof of a bonafide relationship you have nothing to worry about. I'd save the money and days off work for when he gets to the US so you two can do some fun stuff together because adjustment is hard. Think of things you two can do together, small projects you can work on together, places you can go to, people you can introduce him to...

Although being there at the interview could help your case, I don't really think it's necessary.

I agree with Perdita. If you have enough proof of bonafide relationship, and knowing how much the trip would cost you, I would save the money for the time when he comes to USA. We all know how much this process cost.

When I had my interview last year, one of the girls had her US fiancee coming to an interview with her. He had no problem getting in the embassy, but he could not attend the interview itself. They were approved.

I know how hard it is to go through interview, I myself would love that my fiancee was there with me, but I am more on the practical side, now I'm happy that we saved that money for AOS and our wedding. Looking back, for me, interview was the easiest thing, adjusting here was much harder. He will need your support when he gets here, in every way. Try to prepare everything you can for him, because he will need you.

If you really feel that you need to go then listen to your guts feeling and go. I'm just talking from my experience, and how I feel bout it.

From the many threads I've read I can't recall a petitioner regretting making the trip to the interview. I've read countless woulda shoulda coulda regrets about not attending. I'm kinda thrifty too but I'd rather spend the money and invest on being at the interview as opposed to adding it to "party" wedding funds. Which is more important? It's your decision alone to make. I am at the interview point too. And I loved so much my fiancè to be there, but he can't because of his work. I know it costs, but thinking this way: if you save those money for AOS, weading plans, having fun, meeting people , small project ... and your fince doesn't pass the interview, what will you be thinking about? Can these plans hapen if your fince is not with you in USA . Just think of the long period of time you must wait and things you have to pass, and MONEY you would spend by starting the proces from the beginning .

On the other hand, it will be very perfect if you don't go here, your fince pass the interview and you get together. But we never know what is going to happen, even if you have strong bonafeed proves of the relationship, only the consular officer can decide. ( It's said: don't make plans!!)

In my opinion if you can go and feel inside a need to go, then GO! But, it's only my opinion.
