Hi,

I am unable to check the status of my application online. The case number on my NOA does not show me any updates. The website asks me to check the check the number as it does not recognize the receipt number. Anyone else ran into this ever?

10/18/2013 - EAD updated with USPS tracking number (expected delivery on 10/21)

10/21/2013 - Interview day (Los Angeles - review)

10/21/2013 - Another update to the I-485 (Decision - Registered as Permanent Resident)

10/28/2013 - Card ready to be picked up notification. Later in the day got the tracking number.

Please re-read the NOA. It says right on it that the case number is the one from your upcoming biometrics letter and not the one from the NOA. Good luck!

Thank you for the quick response Cheezees. It looks like I have misplaced the biometrics letter :( I can't find it anywhere! Is there a way to get that number again? I did go for my biometrics btw and they stamped the letter but I can't remember where has it disappeared! Maybe I kept it away super duper safely.

~Update: I was able to retrieve the application number from my chrome history somehow and I can track it online now. However, the question now is, would I need the biometrics notice ever?

No. The biometrics letter is not needed after the biometrics have been taken.

We were confused too. The NOA 1 says that your case will become a "CRI-89" file. It is the CRI number that you can track online, not the I-751 number (hence our confusion). The biometrics letter has both numbers. The lady at the biometrics appointment told Joan to list both receipt numbers on her forms. Sure enough, the I-751 number yields the same error you got, but the CRI number comes back as "received."
