My husband got his AP & EAD a week ago. I'd love for him to get a job, but it's pretty impossible without him having a license or a car. (There isn't anything within walking distance & public transit is awful here.) does he have to wait for his temporary green card to get his license? What about his GED? That's another thing I'm confused about. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

March 26, 2009: We become a couple!
September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!
June 21, 2010: Engaged!!!
September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!
February 9, 2011: Depart for China
February 11, 2011: Registered for marriage in Wuhan, officially married!!!
February 18, 2011: Wedding ceremony in Shiyan!!!
April 22, 2011: Mailed I-130 to Chicago
April 28, 2011: Received NOA1 via text/email, file routed to CSC (priority date April 25th)
April 29, 2011: Updated
May 3, 2011: Received NOA1 hardcopy in mail
July 26, 2011: Received NOA2 via text/email!!!
July 30, 2011: Received NOA2 hardcopy in mail
August 8, 2011: NVC received file
September 1, 2011: NVC case number assigned
September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

The two things you asked about are not the same across the USA. Education and driving are decided by each individual state. Look for state websites on the subject or ri g up local offices and talk to them for the best info.

Better check with your State's DMV. My husband didn't, and scheduled me to take the exam. When we got there, we just showed the NOA1(receipt) acknowledgement of my AOS, EAD, AP and passport. The personnel told us that we were not qualified as my visa had expired(3 months from date of entry). Long facepalm!! Even if we explained it to them that I am adjusting from a K1 visa yada, yada,yada. They did explain to us that they need a document stating until when I am legally allowed to stay in the US (visa or The EAD). This is for the state of California by the way. :)

Ok. I emailed pen dot & got a reply. He needs his social security card as one of the multiple documents required. We applied for it back in February. There was an issue where his name was spelled wrong & they said it would take a few extra weeks. I...think it's been more than a few weeks. Lol. I'm thinking we should make a trip to their office on my next day off.
