... I might not get the expedite approved but it wont hurt to try. I just have to try it.

If I seat here thinking, it wont work because of this and this and this I'll come up with a million reasons why not to do it when the truth is I only need one to try it. I'm not safe here and that's putting a lot of stress in my husband. I can't really worry about how others expedites have been denied for others reasons, because I have seen some approved. Tocar, no es entrar.

Arelys,

I agree with you and that "tocar, no es entrar" is a great motto to live by, I apply it everyday in my life, as well as "la peor diligencia es la que no se hace", and "el que no llora, no mama", and such. So I support your positive attitude and wish you the best of luck in trying to get your case expedited based on the situation in Venezuela. I hope it works out for you and I hope you can come back here and share that experience with the rest of us. And if you are unable to get it expedited, then just continue to be patience, you are already in the home stretch, and you will be in the US with your hubby sooner than you think.

According to the SAIME Twitter page you can now make an appointment to renew your passport by calling the number 0800-SAIME-00... There's a video and everything:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpPdDQ12M10

Also on their twitter page they say that you must pay is 12 U.T. (Unidades Tributarias) which is equivalent to 1.800 Bs. They also state that if you are in Venezuela there is no need to bring the form for the passport on the day of the appointment.

Here is a link to look at the locations: http://www.saime.gob.ve/?post_type=oficinas&tipo=16&sestado=-1

And another link to the bank accounts information to make the deposit: http://www.saime.gob.ve/faqs/bancos-y-numeros-de-cuenta-para-cancelar-tramites/ & here https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CHOnXRHWkAAQ-rP.jpg

Hope it helps anyone else looking to renew their Venezuelan Passport in Venezuela.

Just some additional information on this process in case anyone else is looking for this... My mom did call today, Thursday October 22nd, 2015, to that 0800 SAIME 00 Number... They gave her the appointment for her passport renewal for next Tuesday, October 27th, 2015... Pretty fast. She said they told her she only needed her Venezuelan ID and to pay the 1.800 Bs., and that she didn't need to make a deposit, that she could pay it that same day of the appointment with her debit card. They will let her know how long it will take to actually get the passport on the day of her appointment. I'll let everyone know how long it's taking once that happens.

I just wanted to let everyone know on this Venezuelan Passport Renewal process... My mom received a text message 7 days after the appointment, saying her passport was ready to be picked up. She went the next day, so she got her passport in 8 days. Very fast, considering it's Venezuela we're talking about here.

Hey everyone. We are applying for a K1 visa. The plan right now is to do a simple civil ceremony here in the USA when his visa is approved with just my father and sister as witnesses and hold a symbolic wedding ceremony in the Dominican Republic after his AOS so that both our families could attend and meet each other. I would really hate to do the whole shabang without his family in attendance. However I am worried with everything going on in Venezuela right now that there is a slim chance that in 10 months finding a flight out of the country may be near impossible. I wanted to see what you guys thoughts were on the subject of flights leaving the venezuela in the foreseeable future.

Meggers,

I know you must be worried because of all the rumors that have been going around regarding flights out of Venezuela, and also the Venezuelan government owing money to the commercial airlines. I agree with you, it might be difficult, but I don't think it's impossible. I suggest you wait a bit to see what happens in the upcoming elections (December 6th), because that might have either a negative or positive impact on all issues in Venezuela, including availability of flights. The best thing you can do though, is plan the wedding with enough time and give his relatives in Venezuela enough time to be able to secure a spot in a flight out to be able to attend your wedding. Weddings are a big thing for Venezuelans, and I am sure they would not want to miss it!

Congratulations !

M

Thank you for the encouraging words. You are right, I should have a better idea of what to expect after the elections happen. I just hope that the elections don't cause too much chaos and that the situation there at least stabilizes and hopefully improves afterwards.

Hi Arelys,

My husband is currently about to start the petition for me (I live in Venezuela), and we were thinking about expediting the process based in the same reasons that you described, since is basically our own experience, he worrying so much about me living in here.

I'll like to know if you succeed by trying that, and other aspects of your experience by going through CR-1/IR-1 process from Venezuela.

I'd love to explain the whole process we went through to you sweetie. Ill inbox you my email. And we were successful.  Everything was smooth after the expedite.
