Yeah I hear you. I probably should have said it shouldn't matter instead. That's part of what I don't get. The goal shouldn't be to "win the argument", rather it should simply be an exchange of opposing viewpoints and input. It's what drives good conversations. You're right, I've seen it all too often...member ABC just has to win the argument. It cuts both ways though.

IF, and a big IF, even IF I didn't like black people, liberals, Muslims or any other class one wishes to latch onto, that doesn't mean I or you have to be anything less than respectful with one another. Your sifting I fear is just one outfall of the state of society.

There was one person who would advocate for the murder of illegal immigrants on a semi regular basis for instance. Thats someone I don't miss.

I was going to say the exact same thing. There were quite a few whiners(you rarely see them anymore though). Me personally I have not reported anyone even once although there were times I definitely had the right to.

It's calmed down here since most of the posters who did this mess are gone.

I've seen Muslims needed to be deported or round up in concentration camps. The murder rate would drop 50% if we got rid of black people. And my all time favorite, everyone who isn't white needed to be put out of the country(the poster who said this was married to a woman from the PI).

I think it's the main reason P+R, now CEHST, got split off from the off topic section. It was overwhelming for the new and casual users to come in and post something benign and get jumped on by some of the regulars.

Its most likely because everyone assumes new posters are a sock puppet with a new persona. We (the mod team) are usually on top of that but no one thinks we are. Which leads to us moderating other people for badgering new people. Which makes them think we're protecting people something. I think its just natural for people to assume "the man" is out to get them. And there is tons and tons of completely off base assuming around here. But what are you going to do? People will believe us or not.

Many forums have a time limit or post limit before people can use certain parts of the forum. I always thought that might be a good idea here to get rid of the "sock puppets". It wouldn't stop them, but it might slow them down.

I'll admit, I can't help being skeptical of someone who signs up and ends up in CEHST posting crazy stuff on the first day. It doesn't seem to fit the pattern of someone who comes to the site legitimately. I do try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt though.

Now that your in Hawaii, you've probably seen some of the crazy spam that only shows up during the night.

Not really. I remember about a year back, some insane threads would get spammed, but they'd get axed after about a minute. Now that you've mentioned it, I might have to come on and take a look.

Forums never stay the same. To many people look back at the past on here and long for the good old days. Then they look for a place to place blame. So the moderators are the first to get it.

Imagine the bs they go through with some of the whiners. If I was was a mod I would just ban those who are doing the complaining and reporting .

As far as I am concerned this site is run by the owner and he can do as he wishes.
