Then why was Mr Big Dog banned?

He wasn't.

And I don't know how I can go into it without violating the privacy inherent in dealing with people. I can't exactly post the transcript of the whole back and forth in an open forum. What kind of person would do that?

For the record, G. is an awesome moderator -- and not purely in this forum.

To my recollection, Mr. Big Dog went silent on the forums for about a week, and then quietly closed his account. I noticed the last occurrence only when I looked at the All-Time Posters list and figured that a name was missing. It took a bit to determine who it was.

We can rehash the past or look ahead, with an eye toward making this forum palatable to new participants who are considering posting. What do folks here need to do for that to happen?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

That's a very real possibility. And since its your business to know, it was my suggestion to the mod team. They opted to step up their involvement in my absense and to for me to do what I could. That's where we're at. Tbone has stepped up to take up my slack. And he's familiar with the environment of the sub forum.

And this is where my complaint comes in, we were told that this forum would have it's own dedicated mod separate from the other mods. Making that arrangement with the other mods only set things right back to where they were before you came on. I guarantee you Mr Big Dog would still be here if other arrangements were made such as selecting another mod from the forum to fill in or replace you.

I doubt it. But that's neither here nor there. People and their pride man.

Oh and for the record, your expectations for an unpaid volunteer are unreasonable. As I and everyone else has been telling you, the change needs to come from the posters.

No they're not really. If you're a stand up guy you either perform the duties you say you will or step down and let someone else do it. You've been pretty much non-existent here for well over a month. If you have other things taking you away from your duties here, then why let the board suffer for your absence?

PS: You hardly have the backing of "everyone else".

I don't know. I only dislike the censorship rules that were installed in the last year or two. I'd really like them to be void here, but I guess that won't fly with the Endorian.

Teddy, opinions are one thing; sticking the knife in and twisting is another. In the words of the first post in this thread, "keep it respectful." The TOS apply to this thread as much as to any other.

As always, if you have problems with moderation decisions, take them up with the individual moderator, escalate them to the Lead Moderator, and escalate them to Ewok, in that order.

As has been stated several times here already, arguing about the restrictions from the last year or so is fruitless. There is no choice but to adhere to them.

In all seriousness, what difference does it make? We've told the powers that be here what we would like to see changed until we're blue in the face. Nothing ever changes.

Yes, please do. And might I suggest the money docked be spread evenly to the rest of the mods for picking up the slack.

i'm sure that will be quite easy for ewok to do. :)

The mod team has stepped up. There has been a regular presence of someone that knows the specific dynamics of the posters.

Again, if the posters here do not want me to be a moderator here, then I respect that and will abide by it. If I do not have the support of the regulars, then what's the point? You're the only one asking for my head. If there are others, have them contact me or the mod team. Or say it here, I don't really care. I mean there's no way we would allow you guys to do this to another poster but I guess feel free to do it to me.
