Montreal Consulate - No Interview Dates?

Hello Everyone!

My apologies if there is already a thread out there for this. I did look before posting, and I saw a few threads for this as a past issue, but nothing recent.

We are at the stage in the K1 process where we are able to schedule an interview at the Montreal Consulate. Unfortunately, it appears as though there are no available interview dates! Grr.

In the past, it looks like VisaJourney members have helped their fellow interview schedulers by letting them know when they see available dates.

Is anyone else having the same issue? Maybe we could help each other out, and post here when we see some dates become available. I have been checking the website a few times a day. I will send an update if I see any changes!

Big thanks to the VisaJourney community for getting us this far!

That's just how Montreal is. They open up interview dates all at once for two months in advanced. I would suggest you keep checking as they may open either this week or next week. When they do, grab an earliest date that's convenient for you. DO NOT WAIT. Just grab a date. You can move it to different date after if you don't like it. If you missed that window, you will have to wait another month.

Their available dates are usually a month in advanced. So, don't miss out the window.

Thanks so much! We have been checking about ten times a day. I am most definitely grabbing the first thing I see! I really appreciate your reply :)

YES Montreal is like that. It was for me. I had to keep checking a million times a day, even when I was at work. Sometimes people cancel or reschedule their interview so an earlier date can pop out of nowhere. ;) Good luck!

Wait, don't they send us the interview date in the mail? I read that we aren't allowed to book our own interview, that the national visa center does it for us. I'm also on this step (waiting for my packet in the mail) so now I'm pretty confused/concerned.

Still checking a few times a day and nothing seems to be coming up. Pretty frustrating to have made it this far only to have to wait again! You'd think we would be used to waiting by now ;)

I'll update if I see any dates come up!

No they do not send you an interview date in your packet. The packet will tell you what to gather for the interview and where to schedule an interview.

The only time that they schedule the interview for you is during the AOS process...

Do we know what months they will be opening up? will it be January and February? as I would think November and December has already been opened and booked as I remember seeing people post December Dates for interviews in another thread.

Thanks

Hi Clifford27 - I wish I knew. I had sent them an email and got this (obviously scripted) answer:

"The Consulate General in Montreal is committed to scheduling immigrant visa interview appointments as soon as possible after the applicants file is documentarily ready. The Consulate General works closely with the National Visa Center and CSC Visa Information Services, our appointment system contractor, to determine the number and category of immigrant visa cases that are ready for interview, and ensure there are adequate appointments available. The calendar is reviewed several times per month, and additional appointment slots may be added as available visa numbers change. If there are no appointments available, applicants are requested to re-try regularly, as it is likely additional appointment slots will be opened"

When I replied to that email two weeks later asking for a specific timeframe, they literally sent me the exact same email again. So I don't think we'll get an answer other than "just keep checking".

I've been checking about ten to fifteen times a day. I'll let everyone know if I see any dates magically appear. Our NOA2 expires on January 1st - so I'm not really sure how they would handle that. I guess they extend it?
