What STILL really bugs you // or stumps you // still can't get used to // and you can't figure out how / why, regardless how long you've been here?

You know not whining or b-ing. but just drives you nuts like when someone cuts their toenails at work? Or coughs incessantly.

What was it like in your native country if different?

That Sugar is pronounced Shoe-ger and not Sue Gar?

That some states have front license plates and other don't?

Why some interstate ON ramps, go up instead of down (where you are supposed to speed up to interstate speed on an incline)?

Why the NFL has so many many commercial breaks?

Why a Subway footlong is in fact not a foot long?

That you buy big ticket items and simply return them to the store (some weirdos return perishable food at costco...which bugs the ever living ####### out of me)?

It drives me nuts when people from here seem to not look at me directly when i talk to them. Like for example the servers/staff in restaurants! They always seem to choose to speak to my spouse when in fact my english and my accent is not bad. i just can't figure out why? I feel weird about this sometimes. Is it my facial expressions? is it my looks? i don't think i am that intimidating! Any of you have similar experience at the moment?

Oh yes southern drawls kill me.

As for full service gas. I think New Jersey is all like that.

I don't like the pay for gas first then pump deal drives me nuts. I know why it's like that but it still bugs me.

When we were last in Canada I had to convince my husband to pump then pay :)

Haha, I stood at the pump for ages waiting for it to 'authorise' because I was paying cash I didn't realise you pay first

Felt a right ####### lol

Recycling and the lack of it!!

Before I moved here we recycled everything down to the little yogurt containers and plastic spoons etc.

Now I have 3 huge boxes of recyclable items on our patio just waiting to be recycled. The problem is that here there is no recycling centers the closest I could take it is to the next state over.

I have to go to Spokane for Biometrics next week so my carload full of plastics/cardboards/newspapers will be making a one way trip :)

We live in recycling paradise. Our municipality collects recycling every Wednesday. The process is quite simple: paper items are separated; plastics, aluminum and steel items are co-mingled. We do have a separate system for recycling electronics, fluids and vehicle batteries though. For that, it is necessary to transport the items to a central municipal location.

We did have one notable event in municipal recycling. In the early years of the program, a suggestion was made at a town meeting that the system be extended to include the recycling of Mothers-in-law. For some reason, the idea did not gain any traction.

Haha, I'm sure you're already aware of this but Idaho is a little different.

I appreciate(at least here in good 'ole North Dakota) our punctuality. In Nicaragua, for example, and generally throughout Latin America, when you say "the bday starts at 6", they actually mean 7 or 7:15. So when I show up at 6, which is when they said it would start, no-one is there and nothing is ready. So I'm left to wait as people awkwardly are still taking showers or watching TV until stuff starts happening AN HOUR AFTER.

WHYYYYYYY. Say what you mean and mean what you say!

So I will not miss the lack of punctuality 8^)
