people basing their whole diet on junk food/frozen food and food from boxes/powders. how??? why????? (yes i know its a lot cheaper than normal food. but are you really gonna sacrifice your health to save 10$?)

people milking the welfare/food stamps/whatever system and live their whole lives like that. will never understand how someone can refuse to work and choose to live poorly and raise their kids like that as well.

tons of food in stores already cut/sliced/chopped/prepared. how lazy can people be? like seriously?

lack of a big cheese deli in stores.

when you listen to the radio they repeat the same phone number like 50 times and then say something really really fast. i hate it!

everything has peanut butter in it. everything.

My husband calls us the country of abbreviations. It drives him crazy.

He also calls America the inventors of tipping.

He's just not getting all the Halloween stuff--skeletons, pumpkins, cobwebs...

Agree with too much advertisement. Commercial madness!!!!!! Student dressing like they are going to a club... Going up the escalator and I can see their groin and underwear. Can't get fresh pork with the skin on it. Their chips, especially the Frito lay brand do not taste the same.. No wonder why the ones we get back home mark imported, I guess those have more salt and added flavors... A little salt won't kill.. Costly high end restaurant with bland tasting food. Too much fast food, yet they say they want to eat healthy... Healthy meal plans are actually process food with preservatives to keep the, fresh! Crazy!!!!! Everything is based on credit. Racism is still alive and strong here.. Very sad to say. most people drive like they're mad.. If you don't know what u r doing at the cross road they'll drive straight into ur car. Fashion is over rated.. Everyone want to wear designer clothing. Last but not least...MOST PEOPLE BELEIVE THAT ONCE YOU ARE AN IMMIGRANT, YOU ARE GREEN CARD HUNGRY and YOU ONLY GOT MARRIED FOR A GREEN CARD.

I have to add to my previous list :D

Plastic bags in the grocery store. They're just such poor quality and way too small. Then you can only fill them up 1/3 full and even then they might break. In Finland you have to pay for the plastic bag in the grocery store, but they're thicker and a bit bigger. In states, a week's worth of groceries need like ten bags, in Finland you only need two. Needless to say, we tend to use reusable bags. Also saves the nature.

And I completely agree with the sales tax. I have no problem with the tax itself, I just can't understand why it's not already included in the price that's on the tag. I feel like they're cheating when I buy something that costs 39,99 and end up paying over $40 for it :D

wow you think snacks are saltier back home? Wow. This first thing i noticed going abroad was how unsalty everything was (but was still good) after I come back home, everything tastes like a salt lick.

The sweetness of the bread is the thing that I find hardest to get used to.

Also the fact that television here is basically adverts with part of a TV show eventually if you watch long enough. Then more adverts.

I've seen soy, almond, rice etc but no normal milk. When we asked at Safeway they looked at us like we were crazy, and told us that was all they had. It's all we've seen in other stores as well. So if you have an actual lead or brand name, I'd love to hear it...maybe it's just not in California?!

I'm going shopping tomorrow. I'll take some pictures/names of them.

haha! I could go on!!!

The winters are freezing, obese obnoxious people, the arrogance a lot of people have here, terrible and rude drivers (no waving, no politeness) and that tax isn't included in the final price!!!!!!!!! People in Chicago are obsessed with the weather - there is always a forecast on.

The weather do varies a lot in Chicago... So I guess they have to keep us up to date very often.

I hate how rude people are.. No one have any common curtesy..

How is taxes collected in other countries?

In the Philipppines,

If you go to McDonalds, the price says P100, you pay P100. so, it means, if the sales tax is 10%, then the burger is really just P90, and the tax is P10.

McDOnald's in the PH offer chicken and spaghetti, I stil don't get why the only place i can get spaghetti is to go to an italian place..

And KFC has rice not mashed potatoes... places like burger King have tried stuff like that in the past but it never sells enough to catch on. They sold tacos for awhile in 2004/2005ish. ...the thing is that if people what tacos they'll go to taco bell.

Want spaghetti? Go to Fazolis.

I hate having to tip and I hate the way taxes are...most of us Americans do along with all the immigrants. We all agree on that. If it says 5 dollars I should be able to give them a 5 dollar bill and leave not 5.48 or whatever.
