RFE for "Passport style photo" size?

Hello,

I recently submitted my I-129f and had a question about whether you know if it's possible to get and RFE for having one of the passport style photos not being 2 x 2 inches.

My fiancé sent me photos that he used for his passport and they were not the standard 2 x 2 inches but they were the ones he had used for his passport so I didn't think it would be an issue.

He is going to get more taken to bring to his K-1 interview but do you think they will ask me to send one in for the I-129f process?

Chances are you may get an RFE. Everything in this process is to US standards, and if it's not, they usually want you to make it so it is. If you get an RFE just have him take a couple of US type passport photos (meaning with US guidelines) and send them to you to send in, it'll add an extra month, but it's not too awful.

Both my fiancé and I sent in U.K. passport size photos with the original petition and received approval without any RFE's. The only time I used 2 x 2 size was for my photo at the interview and for DS-160. But I'm sure it'll depend on who you get reviewing your case.

It's a small fix regardless of size :)

I don't think you will get an RFE. The photo is just stapled on your file folder and maybe scanned into your digital file. You will want a U.S. size for the embassy because it goes on the US visa. The four for the medical in London can be US or UK as long as all four are alike. They are stapled on each page of you medical results but are for ID only.

Here is a post from one of VJ members and no way I am suggesting to you or anyone else to do the same....You might or might not get RFE...all depends on the person looking at your petition..

My wife's photos were taken in Vietnam at a local photo shop. They were 1.5" x 2.5" on a pale blue background - not at all according to US passport standards. They were accepted by USCIS.

My photos were taken at a UPS store. They used an ancient Polaroid double-lens camera specifically made for taking passport photos. The UPS store employee cut them out by hand with a pair of scissors. They were accepted by USCIS.

You're not applying for a passport here. USCIS just wants a photo they can scan into their computer system for the electronic file, and something the adjudicator can use as a reference when looking at your photo evidence.

Nope! We made sure to get some that were the U.S. passport size (2inx2in) for the interview though.

Yes you will get a RFE. I got an RFE because the passport photo was one inch off. They didn't specify in the RFE letter what EXACTLY they wanted or what was wrong with the original application. Just that they needed passport photos. So I sent it in again and they denied my WHOLE K1-visa because the passport picture dimensions were off. So unfortunately, expect an RFE. While you wait for the RFE letter, just get the passport pictures with the correct dimensions ready so you can send it in immediately after you receive the RFE.

As I mentioned in the post above, I did NOT receive and RFE.

The application was approved, we continued with the process, and my fiance has his visa in hand :)

The possibility is high considering that instructions on G-325a are straightforward.

There's no need for him to send it to you via usual mail tho. if you have digital version of his passport pic you can print it yourself (6 2x2 pics on 4x6 print for ~30 cents at CVS)

This is absolutely not true. if you got RFE usually and most likely it's for obvious reasons.

Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!

Ok I have RFE follow up. So as I posted before Feb 2nd mailed I-129fF. Feb 11th NOA1, April 13th RFE notification online (which doesn't specify why RFE). April 18th received RFE hard copy in the snail mail which states they need two passport style photos for both of us. The hardest thing about this is I sent them with the I-129F. The easy part about it is it could be much worse. But to know that I did include our photos and our process is on hold jst makes you scratch your head. I did call them because I thought how lucky would we be if I told them it was there and they looked and said oh never mind we have them right here. Lol I know thats too easy. So during my conversation with them I asked A. did the pics we submit not adhere to guidelines, B. are you saying you see none in my packet or C. did you maybe over look them? Because Im thinking if they did not like the ones I included I definitely don't want to go back to the same photo shop and submit the same ones. Well they weren't able to tell me anything. I thought maybe if something was deficient they would attach an electronic note to your case like photos missing or photos not to specifications etc. All they said was "we need passport photos". So heads up to everyone no matter how diligent or prudent you are about putting your packet together by the USCIS guidelines your chances of getting RFE are greater than you think. I have a friend who is now here with her husband and received RFE during their process for items that they too had included in their original packet. I believe I have also seen people on here say they were RFE'd for items they had already included. Not sure why this is happening but everyone jst be ready for it. Hope this helps. I plan on getting new photos out in the mail this week so hopefully we will be out of RFE status by the end of next week. Good luck to everyone still in the holding pattern!

Seriously, this thread is months old, I mentioned multiple times already that I did NOT get an RFE for the picture size.

Funny you mention "straightforward" instructions when you seem to be having trouble reading this thread....
