Mother's name on BC different from G-325A

Hello all,

I already posted this question on some topics which is related to my case but hasn't got any points from fellow VJ's..

My BC (as well as my siblings' BC and my parents' MC) contains my mother's "baptismal name" which we eventually discovered that it was different from the name on her birth records. After that discovery, we then follow the name on her birth records as well as filling up my G-325A. Now my question is, will I be asked on its discrepancy during interview at the USEM? Should the affidavit be enough to support our claim even if her original birth certificate is not available anymore on our local civil registrar and NSO so we just have the late registration of her birth?

Hello you should have used the name of your mom that is on YOUR birth certificate. COs can be very particular about inconsistent stuff (but ive never read anyone having this same dilemma as yours). Anyway, its your interview and its you who is coming to the us (and your identity they need to verify) so i believe this may not be a problem all. Just in case they ask about it, you should bring the affidavit (NSO is still much better though). Goodluck!

Hello thespoons thanks for the reply.. It was too late for me when I realize the discrepancy of the name cause we already submitted the i-29F. I think I will be able to get her NSO after 60 days of giving them the endorsement letter coming from the LCR. We already made a late registration of her birth when the LCR told us that her original records got lost..

I have the same problem (my moms bc has a different name too compared to what is on MY bc. i wonder why people from their generation just decided to use a different name and disregard their registered name lol). I never worried about it since i put the name reflected on MY bc. Complications may arise when I petition her, which wont happen in the near future, so i guess we have enough time to fix it before that.

As I was reading your timeline, you got there really fast! CSC is really cool huh.. I've seen a lot filing on the first week of March and they are still waiting for their NOA2 until now

Don't stress on it, IF...IF the embassy asks then explain and present your document (it is a minor thing), otherwise don't say anything, let sleeping dogs lay.

Any idea why TSC process it really slow? Ours went to CSC as well and I am happy seeing that most filers got on CSC receives their approval really fast (like your case).. But then again, it's too early to celebrate.. It's still a long way to go for me and prayers really help while patiently waiting..

IF and IF the embassy will ask.. Do you have any idea if a "Joint Affidavit of Two Disinterested Persons" (of course including my mom's birth records) would suffice the embassy's curiosity?

It won't be a big issue is my gut feeling. Many have gotten their visas with same kind of issue you are talking of.

As others have said the name of your mother on your BC should be the name you used on all the forms. Bring your affidavits, no harm in carry a few extra documents.

Hey guys! joining this topic i got the same issue with my mom Bc and my Bc its the spelling of her maiden name which my middle name when i was a single before. here's the situation:

mom bc- Datu

my bc- Dato

the last letter are different. back when i was doing a k1 visa i just followed my bc to all my forms and had no problem. NOW my question is my husband and i planning to sponsors my parents in the Philippines to come in the US next year for a tourist visa. does my mom need to change the spelling of her maiden name before she get a passport and before scheduling appointment for interview. Hi minions2 do you have the same problem like mine? As others have previously commented on my post, the embassy wouldn't really give such a big fuss about it (just don't offer any information that was unnecessary!) But IN CASE they might ask (just IN CASE), be sure you have documents ready to support once you explain any discrepancy or whatsoever.. There's really no strains in adding a little extra documents to bring on your big day
