my I129 just got sent from missouri to vermont. woot woot...small steps. :)

on a side note, I have about three inches of water in my basement.

I'm so sick of this house and I'll never be able to sell it and move at this rate!!! This is the third time I've had flooding in five years. I'm assuming it will eventually get to over a foot like it has in past years. happy happy joy joy. I'm putting it off but I have to wade down there soon to get my clothes up off the puddle. I learned to put them in containers (it's dirty laundry) now since I have ruined many a wardrobe. The kids will be bummed that they're not here this weekend since they love throwing rubber duckies down cellar to watch them float.

12/28/06 - got married :)

With all the water and flooding, do you have any of that mold that we always read so much about, people having to leave their house. Do any of you have allergies or any thing like that. Seems when my daughter took the allergy test one of her weaknesses was mold.

Great news on you "small steps" i think we all like those, they lead to leaps soon ha

oh i probably have black mold all over the freakin' place. lol. When I got flooded the first time I called a company to come check and they quoted me over $10k!!! That seems to be the going rate and since I don't have flood insurance it ain't covered. I should get flood insurance but it's about $2k/year and I'm supposedly not in a flood zone and everyone tells me that the past two floods were freakish...which they were since we were declared a state of emergency each time but today doesn't seem to have anything on the news about flooding so I'm starting to wonder if the guy before me had this all the time and just didn't own up to it. I even paid about $3k for new gutters this past year thinking it would resolve anything that would cause a flood in normal weather conditions but no luck. :crying:

Maybe some landscape issues could direct the flow or standing water (to the neighbors) or something similar. I know i have a den built on the back and we had to make a few changes to keep the water away. I would imagine its not new, the prev owner just snuck that one in sounds like.

Doodle, have you got sump pumps? My mom's been flooded so many times. I think they've got like 5 sump pumps or something at this point.

It's really an unavoidable problem in the area. Nearly everyone deals with it. Have you asked your neighbors?

My parents have a couple of sump pumps too. I grew up near Boston and we used to get flooded every couple of years. They haven't had any problems since they put the pumps in.

It's another sunny but cold day in California. I thought my vacation would be a break from the cold, but I was wrong! I have fun with my niece and nephews inside, but I wish we could go to the park to get out some of their excess energy!

Only 6 more days until my vacation is over :(

Deep breathes...another touch this morning. I hope it is all good.

I bet your approval is dated March 1. If it is followign the pattern most commonly seen here on VJ. Not to worry you, but if you do not have an email update tonight you might want to call CSC. I was touched 2 times (my Noa1 buddies had the same touches and approvals that followed). Nothing changed on my USCIS account. I called a week later and found out that I had actually been approved the week before but nothign was updated and a new NOA2 was sent out. The good news is my petition was already at NVC even though the NOA2 wasn;t issued.

I used to love to bowl, but I always break my nails, so I gave that up.

Today the adjustor for the at fault party's insurance came out to look at the car. Even he said there is no way she was pushed into me as she claimed. Said there was way too much damage for that. He says they might total it. NOt sure if that is good or bad. It's fixable, but I think if they total it it will bring down the value. So confused. I need a man with some car knowledge about now.

Had lunch with my daughter. Now going to start prep for the party tomorrow. Scaled it down to like 30 guests from 60...60 was too overwhelming. Kind of wish I'd just left it cancelled as I'm still sore from the accident and the thought of cleaning/vacumming does not appeal to me at all at the moment! Where's Jackie? She's good for dusting at least! Yeah I know she fled the country. Smart girl.

Hope you are all having a good Friday and ready for the weekend.

Maggie
