Good day to all! I applied AOS and now got my Biometric appointment next week and my problem is I do not have any ID'S not even SS#..My passport is expired for a year now and this is my only Identification but its expired.

I have ID card from our city where I lived with my husband, the card shows my full name, the city name and have my picture in it too. Do u think guys can I use it?

Will they still take my expired passport in Biometric? Is somebody here experience the same as mine?

Comments are greatly appreciated.Thank you!

They may accept your expired passport as valid ID. You should get it renewed though at some point.

Thank you. I did not renew my passport before because I overstayed my visa and the fear of maybe getting track and deported. And renewing it now is not a good thing because the consulate will keep my old passport 'til I will get the new one and that may take for 2,3,4 months.

Agree with Hypnos. You should get it renewed at some point.

Are you going to present your expired passport to the immigration official if you are called in for an AOS interview? What are you going to do if you need to make any emergency foreign travel?

What type of visa did you overstay that you are adjusting from?

And yes, you can use the expired passport to go to your biometrics. When you get your EAD/AP, use it as ID and to get a state ID or drivers license.

I'm adjusting from K-1... That is my number 1 priority soon as I get my EAD to get state ID,SS and driver's license..And once I will get my GC I will renew my passport right away.

I was told by my friends that I can't use my expired passport to do the biometrics. This is what I am worried about now and my biometrics is next week.I can't do nothing about it because if I renew my passport now then the consulate will keep my old passport 'til they will deliver my new one and that could take up to 2,3,or maybe 4 months then I don't have my passport if I will do it.. I research it on the internet about it and seems like most everybody is telling about renew the passport but then again I can't do it now. Like I said I have ID from the city where I am living now with my husband and the ID is showing my name,my photo, and the name of the city.Do u think I can use this as the second ID to prove that it is really me beside my expired passport?

Really do appreciate your help.Thank you!

Sure, you can bring it too as a second ID, but your passport with marriage certificate should be enough.

Thank you KayDeeCee...I will surely bring my marriage certificate too..

I was hoping that maybe somebody will comment that had same situation as mine but maybe I'm the only one that have this bumpy road. Thank u again! :)

Yes, others have used an expired passport for biometrics. Also, take your birth certificate too, just in case > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/493702-expired-passport-during-aos-interview/?p=6986150

At biometrics appointments, all that they do is capture your fingerprints.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
