Getting them notarized is not needed. It won't hurt them though, so not something to worry over. The only thing that should not be a copy is the actual I-134 form signed by them.

Unless self employed, in which case the tax return is both a tax return AND "evidence" of current income. We really don't "prove" anything in this process, but we are required to submit certain forms of evidence, which some official will consider whether to "accept" as sufficient evidence, not "proof".

Typically, evidence of current income for an employed person is a recent pay stub. Don't forget to provide evidence of the sponsor's US status as either a citizen or permanent resident. Copy of Certified Copy of birth certificate or copy of passport data page for citizen, or photocopy of green card for legal resident.

They will not accept housing and food allowance as income. Your fiance will still have to complete the I-134. A joint sponsor will be required. The I-134 will have to be an original document. Your joint sponsor will need to provide the following for JA: proof of citizenship, employment letter (letter must verify - length of employment; full-time or part time; yearly salary), copies of payroll stubs for 2 months, w-2s for the past two years, and tax transcripts or copies of entire tax return for the past two years.
