My fiancee received a Package 3 with all the info, including what her 8 years old daughter's documents she needs to produce. One thing is missing: since what age children must be present at the interview. It does say child should be there, but what if she were 2 years old??? Do kids really need to travel to Moscow or Vladivostok, etc.? I shuffled through forums here, and have not found anything. Wanted to make a $12 call to the Embassy, then thought: can I get this info for free?:-)

Another question (should be easy): proof of her custody of her daughter (she has never been married). I believe, internal passport page with daughter's name and Birth Certificate with mother's name should be sufficient ?

K2's should be with their mother's interview because ... they will be taking picture & fingerprinting for the mother and K2's usually need to check their ppassport picture to themselve personally for veryfing that its the same child on the passport.

For your 2nd question, I don't have any idea from her country but just an idea on mine before, Im not married with my son father.. so i was only been asked proof of my singleness, like certificate of no marriage.

Goodluck!

Another question (should be easy): proof of her custody of her daughter (she has never been married). I believe, internal passport page with daughter's name and Birth Certificate with mother's name should be sufficient ?

My best guess is - it will suffice. But this is just what my common sense tells me. Hopefully, people with experience will add their 2 cents... :)

My wife had proof of custody paperwork, but was never asked for it. I think you take your chances here. You should try as best you can to get the documents.

You can contact the U.S. embassy by email for your answers. You need to be specific about your questions and detail them by case number and names. Give them at least a week to respond.

OK, makes sense. At Canadian forum here, Meliss wrote: Kids under 14 do not need to be present... (e-mail received from the Embassy in Canada), but I am going to e-mail to Moscow Embassy

Russia is special!!! (To say the least!)

That's why we have our own forum here. The other threads and embassies information is good to get a general idea of what you "might" need to do, but remember, Russia and the Moscow embassy specifically have special rules and processes. Ensure you double check everything you get from the other forums.

Based on visual experience, a lady with a two week old newborn had to present the child along with herself at the interview! I saw and spoke to her outside the embassy nearly three years ago.

I believe Russia is special! After 35 years of living there :-) ...

Anyway, my girl called the Embassy, and they confirmed her daughter must come to the interview.

And she is going to get a SPRAVKA from SOBES (Dep-t of Social Services) that she is single mother.
