Hello everyone,

I am in the process for a k1 visa with my Fiancè, we already had our NOA2 and everything is going great.

I am a bit worried about the interview though..this is our story:

We've been dating since October 2013 and met each other in New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and Italy (my home country)

in Decembre 2014 I went to visit him in the USA, stating that I was visiting my bf, and I got in just fine.

In May 2015 I applied for a F1 (student) visa, I wanted to go to the USA to study for 2 years, spend my time in a valuable way, learn some new skills, and spend time with my boyfriend without having to rush into a marriage.

That didn't work out, because I was refused because of lack of ties with my country on July 1st.

The thing is that, since I was very nervous and scared cause I knew I couldn't prove to have strong ties to italy, I knew having a bf there wouldn't have helped me ether, so when I was asked "who's Austin xxx" (my bf) I said "a friend" and then i was asked "just a friend?" and my answer was "yes".

September 8th we filed our k1 petition, and now we've got our NOA2.

What I want to ask, if any of you had the experience of saying that you were JUST FRIENDS to any immigration officer before you filed the k1 and then you had to explain that.

I am planning to tell exactly the truth, which is that I was nervous and scared that saying he was my bf the officer would have assumed that we were engaged, which we were not, because in August he came to visit me (so after the F1 interview) and that's when we got engaged (which really, was something that came as a consequence of me not being able to go to be with him in any other way).

We've been dating for 2 years, met several times, for several weeks/months every time, and we have pics and flights and stuff to prove all this.

He is also coming to visit me on Xmas this December again. So i don't think that show a genuine relationship will be an issue.

I would just like to know if anybody had a similar experience :)

Thanks to all of you, and wish you good luck!

Well friend turns fiance, pretty normal though. Don't volunteer explanation unless being asked. Good luck.

How did they know about Austin? Did you mention him during the interview or did they know Austin from when you went and visit him?

When I entered the USA in Dec 2014 I told them I was there to visit my bf and they asked me questions about him, so they knew his name

You should have just told them he was your boyfriend during the interview and they would have been fine with it but what's done is done. Just be honest during this interview and hopefully everything will work out fine and hopefully they won't put much thought into you not being 100% honest during your F1 interview.

So boyfriend.....friend....fiance. You plan on showing evidence of a relationship in that time you two were "friends"? To late but you shouldn't have said that when you'd previously said otherwise. I wouldn't offer anymore than asked....

IF ASKED I plan to say that we were together, and I was just very scared and nervous about mentioning he was my boyfriend, but he was. I plan to say the truth, that's all

Smart, it's what I would suggest...best option forward. Well wishes....

Sorry just want to ask you a question in your own post..where was you interview? And did you mean that the consular can see what you tell the immigration officer?

Yes...they keep track of EVERYTHING you tell them, ether at the airport or interviews, documents...everything.

My F1 interview was on July 1, 2015 in Milan, Italy

 As others have said, be honest and tell that you made a nervous mistake. Good luck.

The thing is, I think the reason why they denied you on the basis of having weak ties with Italy was in part because they felt you weren't 100% honest with them and they suspected that you would be staying permanently in the US.
