As stated using your own income could be easier.you should have enough proof for the interview. I am just not sure how much will be enough for the NVc

If you could get an employment income lettee from your employer and send that in with as many pay check stuns you will have that might be ok

NVC, will accept a single pay stub as sufficient evidence of current income. The real decision will be made by the Consular officer. That's why I recommended taking a more recent pay stub to the interview. Not my first, tenth or hundredth rodeo here.

What if a person file his taxes married filing jointly and wanted to be a joint sponsor but his/her spouse did not. Will that mean that person could not be a joint sponsor. The way i read the instructions was that the I-864a form was only use if another household member was going to be included

You seem to be asking the question I just answered, but....

Chances are, the person would not be accepted as joint sponsor without the I-864a from the spouse. You can read things pretty much anyway you want, but, in practice, and in my experience, the I-864a is going to be needed when the sponsor files a joint tax return with the spouse, unless they have divorced since filing the last joint tax return.

A few years ago, my answer would have been different, and it would have been right then, but not now.

  • 2 weeks later...

sorry for the delayed response.thank you all.i thought of just redoing it with my new job and doing the paper work myself.but with my dad taking the time to do it and wanting to do it.i figured ill do it with him.i realized what i did wrong on my part and filled in info thinking it was separate section but actually wasnt thus i put in info as if im filling for another person as well.ill have my dad redo it but leave my step mom out of it.for some reason he added her and her income.so ill just have him redo i-864 and ill print out the 2 pages i messed up on.if they need more proof of income.i can always get my job to write a letter.or just show a paycheck stub.

This plan of NOT providing and I-864a from your stepmother, is likely to get your case all the way to the interview, where the Consular Officer requires the I-864a from the joint filing spouse of your father. It won't take you long to redo it all the way I suggested, and send it in, but it WILL likely delay your visa issue from 4 to 6 weeks. We don't call it a "best practice" just because it's a cute name. We call it that, because it works.

it would be in our best interest to just have me do it with my new job and include 1 pay check stub along with an employment letter and then send the newest pay check stubs to my wife for her interview?

Yes, but the employer letter was not part of my suggestion. No problem including it. Maybe just the offer letter, since it's a brand new job.
