Here's an anectdotal answer:

Jan lives in Cebu City and I ordered her a few books from Amazon. This was about two months ago? Anyways, she had to pay for a documentary stamp and then she had to pay again in the "releasing area". She said it didn't seem like the package had been opened -- but still the books were worth about 15 USD so 2 fees is pretty heavy in my opinion... but I don't think fedex was used (not sure) and she did have to go pick up the package -- which I think is standard for the area.

I sent a package via usps about 2 weeks ago and am waiting for it to arrive -- this one was worth about 10 dollars haha but we'll see how the process goes this time.

Why would you EVER use USPS to ship to the Philippines? You can tell you used USPS/Phil Post because they STILL haven't got to them yet and she lives in Cebu City. If you have looked anywhere on this forum then you would know never to use them, yes they cost less but you get what you pay for.

Please use Fedex, DHL, UPS, and NOT USPS. I say that because USPS is good up until Manila, and then it gets turned over to Phil Post. Then your fiance will get it in a few weeks, months, or not at all. They are known for pilfering items from packages. Fedex and UPS cost a little more bit they are a hell of alot better than USPS. When I sent stuff to my wife using DHL and Fedex it always got shipped directly to her house.

Shipping by any other carrier then DHL or FedEx you will risk the package going permanently missing. Why is DHL and FedEx the carrier of choice. Because it gets there. FedEx uses 2go and DHL uses LBC once the packages arrive in the Phil.

:ot2: I have had packages arrive with no duty required or asked for. Using DHL or FedEx and if there is a duty required, you can rest assured it will be the legal required duty.
