Okay, after searching about wire transfer money from China to US, I came across this old thread...

So my fiance is planning to wire me about $10,000 to purchase the rings and some other things for the wedding here in the US, because we are planning to have a wedding ceremony in Bali next year, probably before the K1 is approved.

I was just wondering if this would be a good evidence in the future, or would it be any harm to my case.

Couldn't it just be deposited into a bank of america? there's one in shanghai, beijing, guangzhou and hongkong

I actually never thought of that, not sure how that would work out... However he is not in one of those cities.....

Well it was just a thought, Although you know pretty much no matter where he is there is a high speed train to one of those cities 350kmph gets you there really fast and its cheap, he knows this. As far as the actual transferring goes Im not sure, that was just an option to check out that popped into mind when I saw your question.

I know right.... After reading through some posts about it I figured not to mention about ceremony or anything representing marriage. Thanks for the reminder.

Actually where he is plays a great deal on the availability of the high speed trains. I have made a few trips to visit my Fiance in China, she lives in Shuozhou, the closest major city is Datong which has it's own local airport, and regular trains to Beijing and Shanghai, but none of those trains are high-speed, the train ride takes about 8-10 hours depending on the train and stops, we usually took a Bus because the Bus only takes 5 hours give or take depending on traffic.

Now for the other topic, I am unsure if it would be good evidence, or if they would even care that he gave you $10,000, it would also be cheaper for him to wire the money anyway, because the average train ticket will cost $10-$30 depending on the time of year and where he lives, plus he would then need to purchase lodging, and a return ticket. All in all he's looking at a $60 trip on the extreme low end, and a $100-$150 trip on the higher end, not including food. Just to make an in-person deposit, where you could wire the money for as little as $15-$20 depending on your bank's fees and his.
