We can't do it ourselves. Plus we must dig up the road.

The house in on a hill, the middle of a hill o be more accurate and the road is much much lower then the house. So the main line is at least 6 feet down and in rock/shale

How frustrating for you!

I think it's a job for a plumber personally, but we try not to do some of the work on our house because I like having someone to blame other than hubs if something breaks. Makes for less marriage stress imo.

Sewer main job is expensive.

In NYC, you can but sewer main insurance for like 5 bucks a month.

If the job was done correctly when built, the pipe is about 4 feet underground, following the slope down to the city sewer. And the shale had to have been dug up already to install the main, and backfilled with gravel and dirt.

Two years ago roto router dug down for it and couldn't find it.

We have sewer line warranty, I called them, a guy is here now.
