We paid the AOS and iv bill today via cashier check through the mail. Dies anyone know how this affects the processing time? It says on the website that you can proceed to the next step 5 days after an online payment - how long after a payment by mail will we be able to proceed. Thanks.

I paid by mail and I was able to proceed once they updated the information online. There's really no set time if you mail it in, as it depends on when they actually update your information. At the time I sent my payments in, it was when all the craziness with the hacking and backed-up applications was going on, so everything was a hot mess! Some people's took months, some took days. But what seemed to be consistent is those who called and bugged them after a week of it not being updated online seemed to get their information updated on-line, vs those who sat and waited. I assume you got tracking and are able to tell when it has reached and had someone sign for it? If so, I would wait a few days after that and start calling. I did that and a few days later I was able to proceed. Again, everyone is different. Hope that helps.

Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to reply I've been beside myself.

My husband did the payment so I'm talking to him to get details today, tracking no. etc.

So let me get this straight: When they receive the cheque I wait a week to see if there is an update, if not I start calling?

The NVC number has never gone through for me bur I'll try my best.

Thanks again.

Correct. Wait about a week after they receive it. Look around for other posts about this too, it's where I found information. Most people said wait anywhere between 2-6 weeks, and that's what NVC will tell you (again, I sent mine during a crazy time), but I said to hell with that and gave it a good 5 business days, because like I said, it seems like a constant across the board that the more you bug them, the quicker you get results. I can attest to that, you can check out my profile (though I requested an expedite during the NVC due to deployment).

As for calling the NVC, here's the trick:

When you call, the best time is to start calling right when they open, even before at 6:58 EST. or right before the lines close at midnight (double check that time they close at 11 or 12, but whatever time it is, call right before).

When you call, pay attention to if you hear a ring or if the voice immediately starts talking. If they guy immediately starts talking, hang up and keep trying. Sometimes, I tried, literally, 50+ times in a row before I got through. If it rings first and then the guy starts talking, you will get to wait. The wait may be a while, but you will actually get to wait. Hope that makes sense and I hope that helps.
