Adding Beneficiary's name to US Home Address

Hi,

My wife recently received her visa and will arrive in the US in mid November. Seeing as she doesn't have a SSN or Green Card yet, what items can I add her name to where she will have something to show with her name and home address in the US?

I still don't have a SSN, but he was able to put my name on all the utility bills and our lease. He also added me as an authorized card holder for his credit card and banking. You should also be able to put her on your health insurance.

Thanks for your reply. Did you need any other forms of ID besides the SSN when your husband was adding you to his utilities, credit card, and bank account? Can all of this be done while my wife is still overseas?

I still don't have my SSN. The local office is really small and didn't understand the K-1, so denied me for it until I got my EAD combo card. I applied again a couple weeks ago and it's being verified with homeland security and then being mailed out. The bank wanted a copy of my passport with my K-1 in it, my alien number, drivers license and our marriage certificate. The utilities and credit card didn't care, since they're in his name. You just call and say "I want my wife added to the account her name is xxxxxxxxx" for the utilities. For the credit card he just requested an authorized card and they didn't ask questions.

You might be able to add her to the deed of your home, but you have to contact the lender. They will likely require a signed letter from you and proof of your relationship like a marriage certificate. Good luck.

I don't remember if the K1 visa requires that, but if there was a spot for it, I would have. The local office just said I didn't qualify under a K1 visa and I wasn't going to drive 3 hrs to the next office.

Have you checked to see if you are showing up in the SAVE database?
