So maybe they open up new dates once in a month and that is around the end of every month. Do you know what is the process if I want to change the consulate to Vancouver? Waiting 3 and plus months just for the interview is overwhelming!!

I mean, if you have the means or if it's closer to go to Vancouver, I would contact them first to see if they do k1 visas as how I've read somewhere that only Montreal does K visas, I could be wrong though. As for moving cases, I can't say I've ever tried but I'm sure it's possible, you'd have much better luck in Vancouver with an appointment since it seems to be a lot more open than Montreal.

Personally what I would do since I can't say for sure exactly what the procedure is, I would call in Vancouver, if it's long distance for you, there's a method of calling with 1010710 that I use with Videotron, I'm not sure if it would work for you but it's worth a shot since it's 99 cents for an hour an a half of calling. Then with what Vancouver says, I would go from there.

Sorry that I can't be much of assistance but this is what I would do if I were in your position and with the means of going there. If you don't, I would contact the consulate via Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov as they only answer emails. As for phone calls, I was able to get the operator to go speak to them once but that was the most I could do.

They do K visa interviews in Montreal and Vancouver. They only do CR-1/IR-1 visa interviews in Montreal.

They choose based on what province you are in...I don't know how easy it is to change to the other location. I think someone with a K-1 from Calgary was assigned to Mtl but was able to change it because it was the wrong location? I'm not sure. But I don't know how easily it is done otherwise.

You cannot just to switch Vancouver because you don't want to wait in line behind everyone else. Unless they've legitimately erred in assigning you to Montreal then you have a valid point.

From what I've heard is that anyone to the West of Manitoba gets Vancouver, anyone East of Manitoba gets Montreal, then there's some invisible line splits in the middle of Manitoba.

And no, I don't believe you can change it without there being an error. You live in Toronto, so there's going to be a slim to none chance that you can convince them that Vancouver is better for you.

@Idllyic420

According to another post of yours, as of Oct 20th, your case hadn't even arrived at the NVC. It spends about a month at the NVC before being sent to Montreal, and then give it about a week and a half just for Montreal to log it.

Our NOA2 date was June 2nd, it spent about a month at the NVC, Montreal RECIEVED it on July 7th but they didn't LOG it until July 16th, our interview was Sept 22nd. So this is a pretty normal waiting time frame.

Either way, work with what you have. It sucks, but it's just how the process is.

I am applying for a K-1 Visa

I am trying to get an interview appointment with Montreal. I got my packet 4 on October 20th. paid fee for interview but everything is greyed out. Called and asked about this and they just said there are no interview times available.

our petition expires on December 31, 2015.

this is so frustrating and sad

Has anyone else got an interview time for 2016?

If anyone sees any available interviews please let me know :)

Thank you.

Not to worry about your petition expiring, Montreal artificially extends the date and there is no action on your part. In this thread (just read back through)there are people who recently nabbed early January dates. You need to keep looking on a daily basis, a few times a day and eventually dates become available as they release them (also if someone cancels or reschedules).

Usually someone will post in the Canadian forum that dates are available and people scramble to get them. Just takes time, it's really frustrating though :(

I just regiestered to this site just to inform those who are waiting for an interview date. As of 3:56pm today, the first 3 weeks of December are open for interview. I benefit a lot from this site with all your helpful information. I hope this post can return the favor.

We were under a lot of anxiety these past two days after we got our email and paid the fee but were waiting to get an interview date. I can't imagine some it feels if you have waited for more than a couple weeks.

Since I'm the petitioner, I'm not sure. But I think you need to get your receipt number in the email once MTL has your packet 3 and shows that it's ready. But don't worry, it only took them a day or two to process the packet 3 and you will get an email when it's ready and you're ready to pay for your Visa and set up interview date.

My fiance just told me that they actually sent her an email when the interview data opened up. So maybe it's not just a guess and refresh on the browswer anymore. I

So far I've only seen one case of someone scheduling before they got packet 4. They did it without intent though and it was an accident, they never recieved packet 4 email, and where just going off the packet 4 pdf. Once they found out that there was an email involved (because some medicals ask for the packet 4 email at the appointment) they got in contact with the consulate and it was alright.

Again though, they did it innocently.

General warning though, is that if they see that you scheduled an appointment before they even logged their case, they could cancel your appointment.

Our case was received by Montreal on July 7th, but it wasn't LOGGED into their system until July 16th. If you're going to try to schedule an appointment, you may want to confirm that they have logged your case into the system first.

Mind you, I'm not entirely sure if you can even schedule the appointment without it being logged, but it wouldn't surprise me if you could.
