NVC process - submitting fees and packages

Hi - - I have read in a different forum (don't remember which one) that you can be proactive and submit the AOS/IV package while waiting for the bills to be available to pay or be marked as "paid". Mainly because the time it takes for them to review the package starts when you submit and you're not delaying it for later. According to the US Department of State website, once you submit the DS-261 we should allow them at least 15 days to process before moving on to the next step. I'm wondering if anyone has submitted the DS-261, paid both AOS/IV fees and submitted the AOS/IV Package all in one clean sweep? Any backlash in doing that? does it actually delay it instead or has it proved to cut down the time even a little bit?

Doing it that way will increase the time. The Iv fee will not show untill the nvc review your ds-261 choice of agent form it could be 15 days or more. You could call and have them do it over the phone. But still you are adding some time.as you will have to wait another 30 days or more when you send the packets in for them to review the documents

If you send in the AOS and the Iv packets after you fill out the Ds-261 form and pay the fee. The reviewing of the documents will take place the same time as reviewing of the Ds-261 form paying the iv fee andfilling out the Ds-260 visa application

No...I called them the next day after the aos ds261 was showing paid, updated over the phone and the IV bill was available the next day......see my timeline, its all correct,,,,, call and be polite they will update it over the phone and it will be available to pay the IV bill soon

We ended up sending the AOS/IV packages and submitting the ds260 withing just a few days of each other

ok that is good the nvc times must be faster now. And now both fees and forms can be fill out and then documents sent in.

When my wife case was at NVC in feburary 2014 the NvC was behind from being close a lot of days due to snow and it was faster doing it the other way

yes, me too

the bills came within a few days of each other / were marked paid with a week each and immediately i was able to fill out each form

since the DS 260 was timed, i printed it out first, penciled in answers and the went back and filled it out

As i said my wife case was there in feburary when the nvc was close a lot of days due to the snow due to the snow and they was not reviewing the Ds-261 as fast over the i had to call them for 3 weeks to have them do it so in my and others who filed back then yes it would of added more time for us to wait to send packets

It seems your case was there recently so the NVC times seems faster which is good as a person will not have to wait that long to have the ds-261 review

I hope your case is fast to just double check everything before you send documents in so you will not get a checklist from the nvc
