New Case Status. Need Explanation

Hi everyone

So, my case status changed to "Welcome Notice Was Mailed" and I need some help explaining what the letter means. It says:

On October 7, 2015, we registered your permanent resident status and mailed you a Welcome Notice for Receipt Number MSC**********. Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by December 6, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschangeto give us your new mailing address.

Obviously, I am very pleased about this, but I would love it if someone could explain a few things, as I am leaving the country for some time and don't want to jeopardize my case.

"after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice" This is where I need help. Will I have to schedule an appointment to satisfy the ADIT processing? or is this unlikely? I am about to buy my plane ticket, and will be out of the country very soon. I'm real worried. Is there a deadline for the ADIT processing?

The general forum recommendation is to not make any non-refundable/non-tranferrable travel arrangements until your valid immigration document is in your hands.

Will the welcome letter inform me if I need to do ADIT processing? Do you know if there is any chance that I won't have to do it?

ADIT is Alien Documentation, Identification & Telecommunications System, one of those old terminology it stands for. It's just one of those standard USCIS mail templates.

It is another name for biometrics (fingerprinting & photo).. If you have already done your biometrics, just disregard it.
