Self Sponsorship in London

Hey Everyone!

I've just been informed that self sponsorship is often an option in London! I'd really really love if anyone who knows more about this or has done it themselves could give me more information about it! Are there any requirements to be able to do this? Does the USC have to do anything?

To give a bit of background, I live with my Australian fiance in London and have been for about a year. Not only do we live together, but we also share a bank account. I -myself- to not make the required amount of money, although he does on his own. Therefore, I'm wondering if he can sponsor himself, and/or if we can use both of our funds and both of our job information stuff to sponsor him.

Thanks! Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I haven't had a chance to look at the link yet cause every time I click it it comes up with an error notice that it may have been moved or something... I'll keep trying and try to do some searches as well... Hopefully it will start working. My connection keeps messing up, so it could be that!

Marina + Dave,

Over the years several VJers have not needed a sponsor for their K visas.

Note that K visas are non-immigrant visas, and non-immigrants do not need sponsors unless they do not have sufficient financial resources of their own to finance their proposed travel and stay in the USA.

Note also that the incomes you both are making in the UK now will end when the travel begins, unless you will continue working for your present employers after arriving in the USA. So your current incomes are pretty much meaningless and you will need sufficient saving to carry you for awhile until you find new employment. (And your finance has an employment authorization document so that an employer can give him employment.)

Hi Marina,

I self sponsored last year and it was really easy. I did have a substantial amount of savings from the sale of property, but basically all they wanted to see was 1 years bank statements, a letter from my bank stating date account opened, number of deposits/withdrawals within the last year and current balance.

My bank would only give me a letter with the date account opened but this wasn't a problem. I had my money in several accounts so took all of these statements, plus a letter from my solicitor explaining where the money came from. I only had 6 months worth of statements from my current account, but this wasn't a problem either. I took copies of all my statements, but at my interview, they just flicked through them and handed them back.

If you need to know anymore, message me and I'll try to help.

Helen
