A lawyer is usually not necessary if you have a pretty straight forward case.

This is covered countless times here on VJ. A lawyer or 3rd party svc is not required but this is all dependent on your comfort level and knowledge of the process and nature of your case. Search the many threads on it.

I am just beginning this process and am trying to figure out if I need a lawyer to get this done. I would love to hear people's options on this! Thank you.

We went through the same issue. I consulted a lawyer for our k1 process, he asked for over $1000.00 beside immigation fee, I though it was way too much. I found this cummunity and learned a lot from everyone's experiences. Educate yourself about the process and ask for advice if you are not sure about anything. No lawyer need, its a waste of money.

I think you should be fine without a lawyer! It can be overwhelming at first but taking things step by step and making sure you have everything from the checklist on this site is helpful.

When it comes to filling out forms there are some great YouTube videos that will go through step by step and are completely free.
